50% of Republicans support Bush

In today's NBC news: 50% of Republicans support Bush administration enthusiastically. Can you imagine what kind of people are members of this party?

Was that meant to be some kind of insult?

Insane/deranged fundi nationalists?

I'd also like to see a link. You said "enthusiastically", which could imply that the number of republican Bush supporters is actually higher, and that the rest of the republicans who support him aren't enthusiastic about it. Or perhaps "enthusiastically" was just a fun way of making the sentence longer? Also, where was this statistical information gathered?

It was in the evening news. Tim Russert answered questions, when they discussed New Hampshire voting, and he cited this from recent poll results.

Well considering that half of them no longer support their own President, at least half of them seem fairly reasonable to me. As to the rest, I suspect half of them support Bush with a firm grip on their own noses.

Sorry... I don't watch network news. My daily newspaper first and foremost, then TIME and Newsweek subscriptions, NPR, the News Hour on PBS, a little CNN, a little FOX for laughs, a couple of round tables, that's about it.

Oh, and scrounging around the Internet sometimes for specific questions.

Well, Bush's presidency has been grating to many (reasonable) ears, as well as a slap to many faces.

I'll leave you with the observation that this is an international board...NBC news doesn't reach everyone.

I have also heard from a Michael Moore interview that 45%ish of the country would never vote for a Democrat. I don't know if that is true the other way to, but maybe the problem is that people are too entrenched and closed minded.

Those who refuse to vote for this or that candidate (or any candidate) aren't necessarily close-minded. People in this very group may take this position because they are open-minded. The two-party system is really like a straightjacket, and some are closed minded about my position.
