America, what is overlooked.

Vietnam War
Our Losses:
58,000
Our wounded:
153,000
Running time:
14 years
Position:
Defence

We could have defeated the country if we wanted to, and turned it over to the South Vietnamies, but we opted to a much more costly war. Like Iraq we could have swepted in over a couple days, and the death toll would have been far less. When we left because it was no longer politicaly advantageous we began a slow withdrawl. The South Vietnamies were then conquered by the North Vietnamies. As a result:

Quote:
Democide: The murder of any person or people by a government, including genocide, politicide, and mass murder.
Definition of Democide (Genocide and Mass Murder)
------------
Vietnamese democide: 1,040,000 (1975-87)

Death Tolls and Casualty Statistics Vietnam - Vietnamese Boat People

Why Did Three Millions Vietnamese Leave Our Homeland?

Why Hundreds Of Thousands Boat People Died In Search Of Freedom?

Because We Want Freedom, and There Has Been No Freedom in Vietnam !!!

Thuyền Nhân: Boat People, term used to describe the Vietnamese refugees who fled Communist rule after the Vietnam War (1975) in small boats. More than one million people became refugees.

Boat People - In Memory of the hundreds of thousands of Boat People who died searching for Freedom
Strange that it was so hard to find this information, and that such tragic circustances were overlooked by an uncaring world. As long as the fate of contries/our allies/our support, is subject to the judgment of what is most political benificial at that moment, why would anyone place faith in America unless they had no other choice. Other examples of our betrayal would be Bay of Pigs, or how we allowed Hittler to conquor most of Europe and destroyed all our allies except England and Russia, which were suffering greatly. If we start somthing we need to finish it, like Iraq. We went in, and took out a stable government. Reasons for going in aside, we made a mess and we are obligated to clean it up no matter what it takes. If we want to leave, leave it the same as, or better than we found it. We need reform in this country. Personaly I feel our politics our similar to how Americas approach marrige, if it the moment somthing goes wrong we quit instead of working through the hard times. Please don't take me wrong, I love this country, I just think the people running it have lost there moral compass and just follow the wind now. I am more than open to listen to you point of view, and would like to hear your opinions. Please explain your point of view. God Bless, and thanks for your imput.
