Rapture Ready: The Christians United For Israel Tour

Max Blumenthal has an interesting video about the "Christians United For Israel" tour that should put to rest claims that Christian crazies are not prominent in American government:
YouTube - Rapture Ready: The Christians United For Israel Tour

Look at just how crazy these people are! And, of course, there is the "make the checks payable" part near the end.

Alright, that's more than a little weird.

I love the PR agents. "No, you can ask that...just not right now."

Can God hurry up already? I kind of want all these people to be vacuumed up already; they're getting on my nerves.

I was stuck behind an SUV on the freeway today putting along at 50mph, which gave me plenty of time to:
1) read the bumper sticker "In case of rapture this vehicle will be unattended" and
2) pray to the god who doesn't exist to speed his damn rapture up and take this person NOW!

I'm becoming so jaded; not much they do anymore surprises me.

But what do we do? How do you stop this sort of pure crazy? People who are motivated mostly by politics or practicality can be talked down, but people who want to go to heaven ASAP don't seem to care...

I'm afraid these people may be sorely disappointed. I don't know that there's a lot of scriptural support for it going down the way they think it will.

But they are pretty crazy, right? I'm just trying to shred some myths about this country not being in line with religious nuts. It's important to consider if a countries' actions match its dominant religious views.

More importantly, there isn't factual support. If people's lives weren't at stake, I'd say they can do whatever they please--but that's not the case. These are people with power, and I regret not posting more on this issue in Volconvo.

Do you read the Bible more then an evangelical Christian? I bet they have read the book more then you have and I bet they could just as easily support their position better then you can support your position.

Um no....

These people have money and have enough support to vote in a President that can do what these people want. They already have with Bush.

I suggest first we get rid of the loons with the money and power, before we get rid of the poor loons.

Some are highly crazy, but the vast majority of these radicals are not violent.

As if that justifies lunacy!

I mean, I know Republicans, and Democrats fall into that logical fallacy each time they do the finger pointing routine, but do you really think that logic works for you in this instance?

Dude. Stop. Hating. It compromises your argument.

Actually, I'd say I read my Bible about exactly as much as an evangelical Christian. Not that I'm aligning myself with the Falwell, etc. bunch. You have to realize: evangelical is mostly an adjective, not a denomination.

And I'll tell you a secret. Many evangelicals don't read the Bible that much. Many get their view of the rapture from the Left Behind series or from Hal Lindsey books, which have been predicting the imminent (meaning just long enough for the bulk of books to sell) end of the world since the seventies or so. Keeps moving it back for some reason . But you could verify what I just said by the vid.

No, they get college age nutcases to do their violence for them.

Keep in mind that Joe Lieberman is not just joe sixpack. He was a major contender for Vice Preisdent, for crying out loud. He's avery influential politicians, and thes ereligious radicals are indeed very influential in our political system. To me, it's alarming how they are so downplayed.

We need to get these fuckers out of power and, hopefully, make sure nobody takes their place.

The problem is that most moderate Christians don't do their homework on these guys. They think that people like this must naturally represent their views. After all, they're Christian, which is better than the baby killers and potheads on the other side, right? Blind duality: yet another consequence of a two-party system.

Well, obviously, plenty of Christians are susceptible to these groups. The preachers can ask for cash donations without being laughed out of the room, for example.

I don't even want to think about these lunatics at times. It's just so disturbing.
