Then you would be paying much higher state income taxes or sales taxes, and so it is pointless to repeal the 16 amendment. They make amendments for important reasons and if we make them and repeal them every four years then you might as well not even have that option.
Why would repealing the 16th amendment mean more state income taxes or sales taxes?

You want Congress to end up like John Kerry flip flopping amendments like pancakes everytime a different political party gains control? I don't think so.
No, what I want is for the federal government to go back within its constitutional limits!

But thanks for the bad idea anyway, a good try but not practical at this time.
Why is it a bad idea to repeal the 16th amendment?

First you say if we want change we must create a new amendment in the Consitution and then you turn around and say we need to repeal the amendments that allow for change, make up your mind Kiddo.
No, what I said was that if you want the federal government to do all these damned socialist programs then you MUST amend the Constitution to give the federal government that power (otherwise these programs are unconstitutional). Not all of the constitutional amendments were necessarily good ones (remember the amendment that made alcohol illegal in this country - the people finally figured out how stupid it was and repealed it).

Personal Income taxes should not be collected, held or legal.

The following link shows how little personal income taxes are used to fund the system, and erodes the myth that "without income taxes, government wouldn't have any funds".

1. Because the states would be paying for the programs now funded by Federal taxes.

2. Amendments are consitutional.

3. It is a bad idea to repeal the 16th amendment because it is not possible to collect enough taxes from the fomer method for funding the government and what it must now do in our more modern environment.

4. In a socialist system everyone gets paid the same amount of wages and then the government determines how much stuff you can get at the store in the way of food and so forth. In our democratic capitalist system you can earn as much money as possible and buy as much as you wish relative to your income. The educational system, for example, allows for a fair playing field so that everyone has an equal chance to pursue their capitalistic goals to get wealthy if they so wish to work in that direction. There is a big difference between real socialism and the kinds of social programs we fund by the will of the people in a democratic system of government.

5. It is true they dropped the amendment that outlawed drinking alcohol in this country, with the exception that the Church was allowed to use wine and make wine from grapes (which was a long standand religious ritual).

Not because they found out it was a stupid law, but because the majority of people wanted to use booze to get drunk as a skunk. As the bootlegging underground businesses proved was a fact. We still have laws about who, where, when, & how people can drink booze and so you just traded in one law for a bunch of smaller laws. Meanwhile the "smart" people (as you believe they are) are causing road accidents, domestic violence, addictions that prevent people from holding down a good job, and other drinking related problems such as a reason to rape women who are too drunk to say no. But that is what people want, and that is what they got because this is a democarcy and a free country. But the right to get drunk has nothing to do with the good programs for building highways, bridges, (etc.) as funded by federal income taxes ( along with state, city, and sales taxes ).

Assuming the states would necessarily have these particular programs.

No one said otherwise.

Maybe the problem isn't funding but, instead the number and variety of programs.

And you think that's a good thing?

First of all, this isn't a democracy, it's a constitutional republic. But the problem with the educational system is that it is garbage! It does not really prepare anyone for the real world.

There is no real difference - it's all big government nanny state.

It was stupid exactly because most people wanted to drink alcohol.

And those laws are not necessarily right.

Fine, punish them for the specific harm they cause to others.

No, this is not a democracy!

There's nothing good about them if they're unconstitutional! If states and local communities want to build highways and bridges, let them; just don't expect me here in New York State to want to pay for a bridge in Alaska.

Although some would advoate getting rid of the IRS and federal income taxes the fact remains that we currently must pay them, so for what purposes do you want the money spent?

In this poll select the expendatures you feel are the most important and which are best for America. You can vote for as many as you wish or just pick out the few at the top of your list.
Actually, if you do the research, there is no specific "law" that states we have to pay income taxes or even file a 1040. There is alot more that I can say, but I'm only willing if anyone is willing to listen and not pass judgement... that would be a waste of time. Let me know!

Like it or not the money that you're paying in taxes in the U.S. is being used to kill people.

Simple and plain fact.

How do you feel about that?

What can you do about it?
Actually, our so called "income tax money" is never used to fund anything. It is used to pay back the interest accrued from the US Gov. borrowing from the Federal Reserve <-- do your research on this, you will be amazed at the findings. Here are articles of interest:

Why An Income Tax is NOT Necessary to Fund the U.S. Government
RE. FEDERAL RESERVE BANK

Believe what you may, but this is too much to not take is seriously. On top of that we have a leader who'd rather fund a war than give teachers, military members, or new programs more money... all I got to say is WTF.. over!

Develop alternatives for fossil fuels, protect our borders from undocumented entry, and upgrade homeland security to prevent terrorism.

The way I see it, the income tax is federal, so it shouldn't do what the states should already be doing (education, crime).
