| You have to realize, though, that Japan is just beginning to come into its own as a member of the international community. It went for so long in absolute isolation...and isolation can make you a little off. Japan did what a lot of sheltered kids do when they finally get out: run with the wrong crowd, make mistakes, feel bad about them later, and try never to have to mention it.
