Is Fred's personality too layed back to win the presidency? I like him, but he's definitiely not an exciting speaker. He would get his arse kicked versus Obama.

He reminds me of L.B.J. for some reason, and I do not see anything exiting about him, or new. So he is boring in that respect. Not sure if he has the acting talents to change that however, if it is a problem.

But he is a "standard" Republican.

People thought Al Gore was boring but he won the popular vote.

Thompson will make a fine vice presidential nominee for Giuliani, Romney, or McCain. He's non-controversial, amiable, and SOUTHERN. Thompson would balance the ticket with a New Yorker, New Englander, or Arizonian.

Well, I will answer but lets not let this de-rail into a Gore topic. He won the popular votes but lost the elecrior (however they spell it) vote in a few big states. The way our voting system is set up those who win the most popular votes do not win the White House. They must win the states that can provide the most representatives to the house of representatives. The representives then vote for who will win.

Al Gore won by a wide margin the popular votes counting all the individuals who voted nation wide.

But they assured Nixon, he is a friendly guy and will work to discredit Howard Dean.

Following the Watergate hearings with Fred Thompson working to defend the Nixon wiretapping of the Democratic headquarters Nixon resigned in shame. Thompson went on to become a Senator, then an actor, and how he is back hoping to take Nixon's old seat at the White House.
