They should have taken him out front and shot him in the head.

Since when was being a toothless hillbilly living in a pick-up truck something to be proud of? Yahuck, I own a shot gun, yahuck.
I remember being in college, in the dorms, and getting in a fight with my roommate for turning on music at 6 in the morning (verbal fight), and while I went back to bed, he called a cop on me. The cop tapped my forehead while I was sleeping with the tip of a .22. Scared the shit out of me! I feel for this kid. He didn't expect this, and I can't expect him to keep his cool. It was hard for me to ask the cop to put the gun away so we could talk, I could see how if he just tasered me instead of pointed a gun in my face I would have quickly resisted in attempt to prevent myself from being tortured. I think I have a very profound understanding of human nature that I don't expect a hillbilly to be able to identify with, and I can see how a mullet might impair your ability to relate to other humans, but I haven't lost that quality. I don't look to police for father figures, chump.

I think if anyone is a ignorant hillbilly it would be the kid that was asked to leave several times and refused, then proceeded to fight the police on the way out.

During the September 19 edition of his CNN Headline News show, Glenn Beck asserted: "Now, I'd like to say that my sense of humor has evolved past the point where I don't enjoy watching someone get Tasered. I'd like to say that, but I can't. To me, Taser videos are a little like potato chips. I just can't watch just one."

Police never ever not anywhere anyhow, do they carry .22 caliber weapons.

"Investigators plan to interview event organizers, witnesses who saw the student being Tasered, and police, including the two officers placed on paid leave after Monday's incident, said Dominick Pape, regional director for FDLE's Jacksonville Regional Operations Center. Police have identified the employees as the officer who struck the student with a Taser and the police sergeant who told her to use the weapon"
News - - Gainesville.com

Another case of the police investigating themselves. Gee, I wonder what the results of the investigation will be?

The guy didn't stop and leave when he was originally
asked to.
Why should they just "assume" he'll leave on his own??
He spoke over the time limit. That happens sometimes during Q&A's.
There are certainly better ways to handle such people, but police tend to resort to force, and this guy reacted like any number of people would when someone starts pushing you along.

Why assume he would leave on his own? Maybe because he said he would when they started "escorting" him away (after asking them what exactly he did wrong, of course)?

Get away with what?*
When you're under arrest, you're going with them, like it
or not.
But he didn't even put up any significant fight. He happened to elbow one of the officers, but that's something one might expect when you're being crowded like that.

And this guy wasn't even being as much of an "asshole" as some say. He was angry, but that happens, even during Q&A's.

Also, to anyone who is interested, the distinction between public and private is an ILLUSION. If you believe in free speech, you should believe in it generally, not just part time.

I can't find any account where the organizers of this event even asked the cops to remove this kid. Has anyone else seen such a request documented? Did the cops act on their own?

i would imagne they were instructed to enforce the rules and remove anyone being overly disruptive, that's kinda why they're there.

Right before the officers step in, in a few of the videos you can see a man motion to have the police step in and remove him. I heard this man was a campus official that organized the forum.

That is not what happened in the slightest.

Quote by: Police Report
Senator Kerry was answering questions during the "question and answer stage" of his presentation when the audience was told there would only be one question left to be answered. After the question was answered, Senator Kerry stated the question and answer was over and thanked the audience for asking their questions. The approximate number of people in line asking questions was about 20, and Senator Kerry answered about 8 questions. All of the people standing in line started to dissipate and either sat back down or started to leave. As Senator Kerry was ending his speech, a man disrupted the senator by screaming, yelling, and flailing his arms. The man moved his way down the aisle yelling, "Why don't you answer my questions, I have been waiting and listening to you speak in circles for the last two hours." "These officers are going to arrest me". I didn't see any officer directly next to him until I noticed Officer Wise walking down trying to get his attention. The man was screaming and yelling obscenities until Senator Kerry told him to calm down and that he would take his question, but he needed to calm down. At that point, the man stated, "You will take my question because I have been listening to your crap for two hours". The man at that point turned to his friend and said, "Are you taping this? Do you have this? You ready?" The man was talking to a woman who was there to film him.

I think the usage of the taser shouldnt be limited to ending a struggle. I think the taser should be used as a preventative measure also. If somone is causing a verbal altercation and you warn them to stop and they dont, I say you taser the hell out of them. This kid obviously went there for the sole purpose of getting tasered or being physically removed from the building because of his Jack-Ass like demeanor. He obviously is an attention seeker who just got exactly what he wanted, fame.

A taser is not a punishment, it is a weapon used to end a dangerous altercation, and in my opinion, should be used only when the suspect presents danger to an officer, a civilian, or himself. A policeman is there to round up the criminals, not serve as a "preventative measure".

"Don't Tase Me Bro" is quickly becoming a fad phrase. There are already quite a few mashups of this incident on YouTube. For example: YouTube - Andrew Meyer Don't Tase Me Bro !! ( Omega's Triphop Remix )

That police report doesn't match this:
YouTube - HOW TO INCITE A RIOT IN 95 SECONDS - (ANDREW MEYER)

If anything, he sounds polite to Kerry at first, and I have seen no video evidence yet that he actually interrupted Kerry (the police report is not visual or even audio).

Nothing he did was worth the cop reaction.

Here is Florida NBC's version
UF Student Tasered During John Kerry Speech - Videos - WTVJ

And Kerry even said he would answer the questions--a point that cannot be emphasized enough.

The cops didn't move in until AFTER the university officials cut the microphone audio. At that point the student started yelling and directing his attention to the officials and cops on his right. When the student refused to relinquish his position at the microphone and began yelling out loud, he was "disturbing the peace" and placed under arrest. If you watch one of the videos closely, you can see a plain clothes individual, most likely a university official, directing the mike cut-off and, most likely, the decision to arrest the student. The cops had the university's permission to end what amounted to a one-man filibuster. The applause heard after the arrest, but before the tasing, gives some indication that many in the audience wanted this guy removed.

Totally irrelevant. Kerry appeared as a guest of the university, not as the forum leader. The university sets the forum rules and enforces security. Kerry had no say in the matter at all.
