Any police officer that carries with him/her a taser, must also, as part of their training, be required to be tased themselves. Same with pepper spray. So they know the power they wield.

We don't need Kerry to confirm his membership in this secret club for us anyways. It's true. Even if the guy's questions were pointed towards a bi-partisan conspiracy involving the election, in effect the question of conspiracy is irrelevent when considering the actual fruits of our bi-partisan monopoly. The dude was being disruptive, but I don't see a reason to taser him unless he becomes violent, a few cops can just drag him out yelling, or if he's becoming really bad without actually threatening the officers, mace him, but a taser I've always understood as a way to disable a threat, not someone annoying you. (that said, I might have tasered the punk in that situation, but regardless) The position of authority often goes to cops heads, but I know just as many who are nice guys, so there you go, I don't think cops are more likely to be dicks, it's just that when they are, people get shot or have 50,000 volts running through their body.

Because of the recent Vtech shooting, I imagine colleges have had numerous discussions about the possible legal ramifications of a "student gone mad" and re-evaluated their own security procedures. He might have gotten away with his rant a year ago but not so today. I think to err on the side of protecting the the rest of the individuals present was the right choice to make.

Did you all watch this video? Check out the end. They've got five cops on the guy, got him prone, he IS resisting (without posing any threat to the LEOs) and they're still tazering him. You can hear several women in the video screaming, "What are you doing!?" and if you look close around 3:22 you can see one of the cops smiling as he says, "Get back, ma'am."

Watching those people sitting in their seats and totally ignore this brutality made my stomach turn. I agree, the kid was just pulling a stunt, and he was being totally annoying, but they clearly used excessive force.
