This news story got me thinking... Are there sometimes small events that telegraph the future? Or maybe they simply symbolize the present in a very succinct way. I suppose another alternative, not very interesting, is that they are meaningless coincidences.

Instead of soaring majestically into the air to symbolise the government's commitment to peace and goodwill, the dove "dropped like a brick" on to the ground.

The incident happened in front of other government ministers and prominent dignitaries including the visiting Commander of US Forces in the Pacific, General James Campbell.

Y'know, I was looking at my bowl of oatmeal this morning, and damn if I didn't see Rosalyn Carter sitting on the back of a cow. Whaddaya suppose that means?

I don't know if it is prophetic but it's pretty damn funny. Especially the part about having hearings to find out why

Lemme consult Nostradamus...

OK Sonart, he says the oatmeal means you have an edible complex.

The presence of Rosalynn symbolizes yer mommy.

Now the back end of the cow has multiple meanings: It may symbolize the flop that get tossed around here or if a calf was comin' out it might be referring to the birth of a New World Order. Or maybe the cow is who you really desire, not your mom. Anyway that is a meaningful vision and I think we should build a shrine over yer breakfast table to allow worshippers to genuflect.

Forgive me, Sonart, I figger if you can kid me, I can kid you. No offense meant.

It WOULD be funny, but too many people are driven by superstition and either vote, have guns or both. Add Sri Lanka (why did they EVER change that name from Ceylon?) to my list of places not to visit.

Not a day goes by that I don't see something that reinforces my belief that people are idiots.
