The mother of all scandals

Quote:
Quote by: Eric Margolis
The Bandar scandal is hugely embarrassing for Blair and Bush, who claim to be leading a crusade to bring democracy and good government to the benighted Muslim world. It starkly confirms Islamists’ accusations that the west promotes corruption. And it dramatically exposes the dirty underbelly of the west’s much-vaunted “special relationship” with the Saudi royal family.
Among other things Margolis's parting shot at Tony Blair, and a further reminder of how rotten the system really is.

No the mother of all scandals was ignored by the MSM.. it's called the UN Food for Oil scandal.

Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route?

As usual, Vicchio, you're looking at things through the wrong end of a wind-dog hash pipe.

As Margolis points out, this goes far beyong sums of money (though they are gargantuan). It's about sowing the seeds of endless warfare, something I would have thought even you would be beginning to think about.

Sorry nono, I don't prescribe to the theory that all these events are a secret power grab to rule the world by some hidden agenda. The people wanting th rule the world and are willing to die for it are quite up front about it, yet people like you ignore them and look for some reason to blame our government.

Boggles my mind.

How so?

Considering how well democracy is working in Iraq, maybe it's a good thing that the Bushies aren't trying to do the same for the rest of the Mideast.

I would have thought that even you, by now, would have finally recognized that the "people wanting th rule the world" are those that have been involved in all the corruption, payoffs, and oppression necessary to keep those deemed "friendly" to the U.S. in power, no matter what the costs have been to the targets of such activities.

I followed the link and read that article.

What is so stunning, in that article ? Not much.
It is a common practice that some influencial guys are being paid up by others to promote others' enterprise.

Example :
Quote:
The UK `Guardian’ newspaper and BBC recently revealed that Bandar personally received over US $2 billion in `marketing fees’ from the British defense firm BAE as part of the huge, 1985 al-Yamamah arms deal. Al-Yamamah means dove in Arabic. Charges of massive corruption over the Al-Yamamah deal have swirled for years. But even for the rich Saudis, $2 billion is a lot of money. That’s twice what Washington’s most important Arab ally, Egypt, was given.
What is your concern, then :
- UK "Guardian"
- BBC
- Bandar (himself :-) )
- $2 billion (hmmm, I bet many of us would love to get it :-))) )
- British defense firm BAE
- al-Yamamah (corruption included)
- Egypt
???

Here's the theory that I "prescribe" to: The people wanting th rule the world are indeed quite up front about it, but they and are determined to let others die for it. And guess who they are?`

As for your government (the presidential branch of which is in power thanks to two stolen elections in a row) I do indeed blame it.

Well, Al, you go into what is already a tinderbox, start invading countries on false grounds with trumped-up evidence, then make a total mess of things through pathetic incompetence, while doing everything possible to further inflame the one main sore point in the region, and while ceaselessly threatening to attack anyone who thumbs his nose at you.

Not what I'd call very smart.

And all the while blabbing on and on about "democracy" while propping up a totally corrupt and arbitrary mass-torture/mass-imprisonment dictatorship with billions of dollars in bribes, the sort of thing that will further piss people off everywhere in the region.

Not what I'd call very smart.

Total destruction of the West's credibility in a region where it desperately needs some.
Think about it.
