| Igneous Magma Posts: 182 | Republicans miss boat on health care! It is not only sad, but pathetic to listen to Republicans in Congress argue against federal health care proposals offered by Democrats. There is but one argument, and one argument only against such proposals ___ Congress has not been delegated a power by the people authorizing Congress to enter the States and meddle in the health care needs of the people, nor tax and spend for such purposes! Of course, there is an exception in that Congress is acting within its delegated powers to provide medical assistance to veterans injured during military duties. And such assistance is provided, for example, at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. But, it’s sad to say that recent reports concerning the conditions at the Walter Reed medical facility in carrying out a legitimate federal government function, tell us they are horrific to say the least and a disgrace that our war veterans are treated the way they are by the Congress of the united States at this medical center. And many of its members now wanting to force this failure upon America’s entire population? In any event, the question must be asked, why are Republicans, especially so-call “conservative” Republicans, silent in expressing an outrage that it would be an act of despotism for Congress to assume such authority over the people‘s health care needs without the people’s consent via an appropriate constitutional power being granted to Congress “To establish a national health care system for the people’s health care needs”? Surely those who support and defend our written Constitution are fully aware our founding fathers created a system with emphasis on federalism ___ a separation of powers retained by the people within the various states and those enumerated powers knowingly and willingly granted to Congress by the federal Constitution. The separation of these powers were summarized by Hamilton in Federalist No. 45 in the following words: "The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation and foreign commerce. ... The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives and liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement and prosperity of the State." So, why would “conservative” Republicans neglect to argue Congress has no constitutional authority to enter the states and meddle in a state constitutionally authorized function such as the health care needs of the people? There is an answer, but conservatives Republicans would have to rat on themselves in giving that answer. The answer is ___ arguing against Congress establishing a national health care system on constitutional grounds would be an assault upon the Washington Establishment’s political plum job Empire which Republicans and Democrats in Congress now benefit from! It was not to long ago that we saw Republicans and Democrats in Congress, including our alleged conservative President, jumping over each other to embrace each other over the adoption of the No Child Left Behind Act. But public education is a state constitutional authorized function as agree to by the people of each state, and is financed by state taxes laid upon Mary and Joe Sixpack by their state government to provide “Free Public Schools“ e.g., see Art VII, Maryland‘s Constitution. Now why would the Congress of the united States decide to meddle in a state constitutionally authorized function, such as State public schools, and violate its oath of office? Surprise, surprise! This trespass into a state function has allowed Congress to create, thus far, approximately 5,000 federal political plum jobs with very generous salaries, top of the shelf medical insurance plans, and, outrageous retirement pension programs. And what do these political plum job holders do? They redistribute money from the federal treasury to another privileged class for a function not authorized by our written federal Constitution. In return, political plum job holders, and those privileged to receive money from the federal treasury dolled out by our Republican/Democrat Congress, are expected to be Congress’s foot soldiers and provide their assistance during election time in propping up the Washington Establishment’s Empire. Heck, by closing down the Federal Department of Education and returning its budget [$ 67 BILLION, which was approximately the entire federal budget in 1952] to the various states by the rule of apportionment, Michigan would receive a very generous $26 MILLION which I‘m sure would help Mary and Joe Sixpack living in Michigan with their health care needs. The only problem with this “health care plan” is, the iron fist of the federal government would be weakened and Congress would loose 5,000 loyal foot soldiers who would have to find real jobs, perhaps picking lettuce which is now picked by illegal aliens. Were we not warned in the Federalist Papers that, a control over a man’s subsistence amounts to a power over his will? So, in closing, next time you hear some crackpot in Congress, or a presidential candidate tell you how they want to help you with your health care needs, keep in mind what they really are aiming for is to subjugate constitutionally authorized powers and federalism; they are looking to bribe you for your vote using your own tax dollars; and, they are looking to enlarge the federal political plum job Empire which would include thousands more loyal foot soldiers with very generous salaries, top of the shelf medical insurance plans of their own, and, outrageous retirement pension programs, who will be there during election time to help maintain the iron fist of the federal government over we the people. Regards, JWK “…..with all these blessings, what more is necessary to make us a happy and a prosperous people? Still one thing more, fellow-citizens—a wise and frugal Government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government, and this is necessary to close the circle of our felicities“.Thomas Jefferson, First Inaugural Address |

It just makes no sense. Forget the fact that taxes will go up. That is necessary evil, but in conjunction we could cut costs in other areas: welfare, spending, an unnecessary nation building war across the pond, the war on drugs, government agencies that do nothing, supporting military bases that are no longer needed in places like Germany, Japan and SK. There are a numerous places that we can cut spending, but healthcare should not be one o them. |
