Decider, are you familiar with the concept of Waqf? Pride, basically. I found many of the elements in this very interesting, as they are the things that I hear over and over from several people on this board. I have bolded many of them. Interesting to know where the propaganda comes from, ne? I have posted the entire text so that no one might accuse me of taking things out of context. I just thought y'all might like to know what you're aligning yourselves with. If the Palestinians left "well enough" alone, they'd vegetate forever in foreign occupation, with their assets (soil, water, etc.) being confiscated bit by bit. You live in Arizona (I'm guessing). Imagine the Mexican army invaded (don't laugh -- imagine it) and started confiscating the best land and taking over the sources of irrigation for the settlers they were increasingly moving in. And this going on and on for four decades. And you'd have these heavily armed settlers among you and the Mex army everywhere and raiding when and where they pleased, etc. etc. etc. Somehow I doubt you would "leave well enough alone". I really do. Quote:
I'm no Arabist, and I know exactly what you mean about the Hamas Charter, and I too am sickened to see the militaristic masses endlessly chanting for blood. It's a "tough neighbourhood", as the Israelis love to tell us. But hell, they decided to move into that neighbourhood, didn't they? And you should also inform yourself a bit better about "another Muslim country". The Palestinian cause has been constantly exploited by other Arab regimes over the years, but Palestinians refugees -- forced to flee their homes -- found a true welcome practically nowhere. So your suggestion -- which I doubt you yourself would follow -- is not a viable one. Quote:
The Israeli occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem has been a disaster for the Palestinians, but also for the Israelis. It's time they faced reality and cut their losses. "I wish I was as cocksure of anything as Tom Macaulay is of everything." -- Viscount Melbourne | |||

| Hot Lava Posts: 892 | Are you telling me that you have not heard....(aaah, the leader of Iran...can't recall how to spell his name); say that it is his dream to destroy Israel? As I recall he also said that he'd sacrifice his life to do so. Haven't you heard time and time again that the goal of the loyal Muslim is to work to destroy Israel? Haven't you heard the Wahabbiests stating such things? Now, I'm speaking in generalities here, I could, I suppose google perfect quotations for you, but you can do that as well as I can. Google the speeches of the Iranian leaders, and you'll see what I mean. (Sorry, I can't recall they guy's name....Abjabazon or some such.) |

Waqf: (Pl: Awqaf/waqfs) Literally waqf means to stop, contain, or to preserve. In shari'ah, a Waqf is a voluntary, permanent, irrevocable dedication of a portion of ones wealth – in cash or kind – to Allah. Once a waqf, it never gets gifted, inherited, or sold. It belongs to Allah and the corpus of the waqf always remains intact. The fruits of the waqf may be utilised for any shari'ah compliant purpose. Forms of Waqf Economic Assets: These are generally fixed assets, income producing, include rentable shops, houses, farms, shares in companies or businesses; function facilities e.g. halls; etc Social Assets: These are also generally fixed or capital assets and include schools; masjids; madressahs; hospitals & clinics; boreholes, water & sanitation facilities; libraries; cemetaries; community centres; hostels etc. What is Waqf?
