WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. State Department says its report that the number of international "terrorist" attacks fell last year
was wrong and in fact had risen sharply.

CNN: http://edition.cnn.com/2004/US/06/10/powel....terror.report/

Google: http://news.google.com/news?num=30&hl=en&e...c0c31090%2ehtml

But, kuddo's for having the courage to say they were wrong. I would have waited till after the election.

Maybe that's the point, Kind of like when Carter's own people waited until after the election to release that the hostages would be leaving soon. Mabey this is the same thing, just reversed. Bush's own people could be trying to wreck him.

"Powell denied any duplicity was behind the mistakes.

"There's nothing political about it," Powell said. "It's a data collection and reporting error."

"The report marks the second time in a month that Powell disavowed information initially presented as accurate."

Powell should have resigned and distanced himself from this corrupt regime long ago. He came out of the military with a great reputation, but that's gone now. He simply has no credibility left. This administration used him up, and he got nothing in return. Why did he go along with them?

yeah.. i'm coming to feel that way myself. powell's like a flavor-sapped wad of chewing gum.

i suppose he went along with them because he felt it was his duty. thank god he did though - what little he has managed to do probably would've been much worse if he wasn't there. i doubt bush would've pushed for 1441 if it wasn't for powell - wolfowitz himself said that wmd weren't the "real" reason for invading.

i'd love to see powell drop out before the election.

and i'd REALLY love to read his memoirs after all is said and done.

hope for america...

My opinion: they told him in certain understandable terms exactly what he would do. Speculation: threats to his family, or they have something that can destroy his reputation, or a means of impoverishing him, or a way of burning him with a criminal charge, or a large monetary inducement. I thought he was too honorable for this crap, but I watched the change in December 2002, and I felt certain that irresistable pressure had been brought. Every man has a breaking point.

There is a complex name for this, but its wrong to say "The war on terror has failed cuz more terrorism occured after the war on terror".

Scientifically, you need to examine other factors. Which areas did terrorism occur? What defines terrorism? Are the areas of terrorism that increased directly related to the war on terror? Who are the countries participating in the war against terror? Have terror attacks increased against participants due to the war, or other external factors which may have affected it?

You need to conduct an examination into:
1) The statistical evidence of terrorism
2) Classify the statistics according various groups (eg. topographic, cultural, etc)
3) Examine the actual policies and actions (cause and effect relationship between WOT and T)

Too many errors...
