![]() Ready to Rok Location: Oklahoma Posts: 1,932 | I am hesitent to label myself, mainly because I feel like I am being politically pegged as a stat and not a person. I only give a definate answer as what applies most to me, but not fully describes me. | information overload Location: Canada Posts: 5 | I voted 'other' for Green. I support a system that mixes some of the better elements of Green and Libertarian. I believe local government should have the most power and federal government should be very slim and focused on the military and international relations, plus setting of common environmental, human rights, and safety standards. Then let the local governments set the priorities and attend to the details with far more voter input. I noticed that even Somalia signed on to the Endangered Species Act, so if a country in such a shambles does so, environmental priorities seem to be reflective of most people's desires. It's common sense; don't crap where you lay. Environmental priorities are extremely important to me because resources need to be protected and the Earth respected so that humans can continue to flourish for centuries without destroying the biosphere, through a combination of tax credits followed by regulation when voluntary emission reductions are shown to be ineffective. Politics need a much longer-term view. Decadent countries should be setting a better example to the developing countries and living up to their commitments (such as foreign aid as a percentage of GDP). We need to find a medium standard of living that is attainable by everyone on the planet and start working towards that and living by example. |

Independentists or Libertarians may be more prone to identify themselves as such than Republicans or Democrats are to name their colours. It seems to me the more conservative posters are less voluble about their political sympathies. Et semel emissum volat irrevocabile verbum. Raúl M. Núñez Sheriff |

| Igneous Magma Posts: 566 | I am an independent voter however I am registered as a democrat. But this poll should have been worded better because I chose libertarian only because of all the posters I know who frequent this forum. I did not know the poll was asking about myself. |

| Hellsea Location: Germany Posts: 289 | When people ask me what political party I represent, not only do I say none, I proceed to tell them why. I am a medium. I believe that republicans, liberals, democrats, and libertarians, all have aspects of their parties that are appealing. I therefore take those things that I find worth believing in, and weave them into my own beliefs. For example, I want to help the poor, and focus on their wellbeing, but helping the rich is also on my agenda. Focusing on ones individual rights is also important. Everyone wants to know that their rights are protected, and when those rights are both neglected and ignored, I feel it is my duty to right that wrong. "I love argument, I love debate. | Volcanic Erupter Location: Mexico City Posts: 4,772 | When you say you're a "medium", do you mean as in one who deals in the paranormal, a 'seer', card reader, practice palmistry and this sort of stuff? Or do you mean, in the context of the sentence that you are in the middle, neither rejecting nor entirely supporting any specific party? Et semel emissum volat irrevocabile verbum. Raúl M. | Hellsea Location: Germany Posts: 289 | I realilzed that I should have specified that, right when I submitted the post. I am medium, as in I neither reject nor entirely support any specific party. It's hard being a medium, because people are constantly trying to pull you to their side of the court, while others have similar plans. I like to stand on the sidelines and watch others ripe each other apart, while accompilshing nothing. I find that keeping my feelings about the goverment to myself....help me note to get caught up in the political storm.......It would be a shame if my hair got messed up. ![]() "I love argument, I love debate. | Molten Ash Location: Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Posts: 134 | How about we simply do what responds to our needs, our problems and our well-being instead of narrowing ourselves into "all knowing" ideologies that do nothing but create conflicts between ourselves and work not for the people but for their egos? |
