Sheehan the Attention Whore quits

Quote:
Cindy Sheehan, the so-called "Peace Mom" who gained national attention protesting President Bush's Iraq war policy by remaining camped in a ditch near his Crawford, Texas, ranch, has issued a resignation letter as the face of the American anti-war movement.

"Good-bye America," Sheehan writes in her online diary, "you are not the country that I love and I finally realized no matter how much I sacrifice, I can't make you be that country unless you want it."

Sheehan says she came to her "heartbreaking conclusions" this Memorial Day morning, saying, "These are not spur of the moment reflections, but things I have been meditating on for about a year now."

I have endured a lot of smear and hatred since Casey was killed and especially since I became the so-called "Face" of the American anti-war movement. Especially since I renounced any tie I have remaining with the Democratic Party, I have been further trashed on such "liberal blogs" as the Democratic Underground. Being called an "attention whore" and being told "good riddance" are some of the more milder rebukes.
WorldNetDaily: 'Attention whore' Cindy Sheehan quits

My question is, since America is so awful, she gonna move? And if so where?

I want to send them a condolence letter.

Einstein's "Theory of Relativity" is still being challenged to this day, but by consensus Global Warming is a fact... that's REAL science at work, why didn't Albert just go that route?

Cindy Sheehan certainly had her faults, but she almost single handedly jump started the anti-war movement with her first protest outside Bush's Crawford Ranch in Texas. Since then others have taken the baton. She hasn't been the "face of the anti-war movement" for some time now, except for the right wing-nuts on Faux News. Her 15 minutes of fame expired long ago.

She's the nut case. And her letter just shows how unhinged she is from reality.

The bush propaganda artists have certainly learned their lessons from Vietnam. No draft, just raise the enlistment bonuses to the point where they can get the cannon fodder they need, when coupled with bush's private Blackwater army. Doesn't matter to him where the bodies come from, the taxpayers will pick up the tab anyway, so bonuses can go to whatever level needed, and the huge salaries Blackwater pays don't mean a thing.

No photos of body bags arriving home, no civilian casualty lists disclosed, embedded reporters controlled by their units, almost all the information classified. Just the random news story manages to get through.

Sheehan never had a chance to incite any of the 60's type demonstrations and protests, simply because most of the citizens are totally unaware of what exactly Iraq and Afghanistan is costing them, and even if they were, it wouldn't concern them anyway. Only when the number of disillusioned families that bought into the "war on terror" and the "fallen hero" crap become vocal and active will there be any real chance for Sheehan and her peers to have any effect.

The assholes that continue to claim that opposing this insane war is "not supporting the troops" are particularly disgusting. I have friends over there, and I don't support squandering their lives for bush's lies.

Why don't you send your condolence letter to some family that is supposed to be proud that their son or daughter died to free Fallujah? Tell them it was a good trade - America doesn't have to worry about saddam invading us now.

Sheehan's protests, letters, and comments would never have happened were it not for the right wing-nuts who sent over 3,000 young Americans to their premature graves in Iraq. Sheehan has no blood on her hands. The right wing-nuts will never wash the blood off theirs.

It's a shame that a woman who has lost a child and speaks out in favor of peace and an end to violence is subjected to such a venomous characterization. I don't agree with the manner in which she expressed her beliefs in all cases, but she certainly has a right to her opinions. She's earned the right to at least be heard. No one is forcing anyone to agree with her.
Getting so emotionally worked up over politics is a waste of time. Calling names is counterproductive.

Sheehan unhinged?

She has always been very sensible.

Everybody now knows that its the neoconvicts that are irrational and hate the troops.
Sending them to their deaths for a lie.

Cindy is right though...about changing people.

If someone wants to be a mass murderer, you just cant change that.
Thats why Charles Manson wont get pardoned next month....and gw bush wont end his war of choice.

Give up and throw a pity party when people say something bad about you. Good way to be a strong role model for those who did agree with her intentions.

Sheehan has my respect. Publicity whore? What is wrong with that when you are trying to reach as many people as possible with your message? Pathetic the way blood junkies tarnish the noble aspirations for peace and a protest to war. Those people just don`t like it when someone pokes a well deserved finger in their eye. Hence the name calling.

Still a fan of WND, Vicchio?

Man, those shills have led America down the pathway to the present situation and you still lick up the chunks they hurl?

I give her credit

I give Cindy Sheehan credit for not being a sheep like the rest of America. She went into this anti war movement with little to gain and alot to lose. She has lost enough and now quits. Ill give her an applause for her effort. She did more than the mallrats of the country who forgot a war was going on. If you feel more American bashing someone who is practicing thier rights, then good on you.

I know that when Sheehan first started her protest it inspired a lot of anger from all Americans... those who support the war and those who don't.

Even now, the most recent number I heard last night is that over 60% of Americans oppose the war, and almost 80% support the troops while opposing the war.

Sheehan, when she started, had the right reasons but the wrong methods. In a time when she could have been a much more effective and powerful voice, she took that ball and ran the wrong way with it, thus giving the pro-war types someone to point to and say, "Is that what you believe?"

It must be very hard to lose your son. I couldn't image what I would do if I lost mine. And she does have a very noble cause and did do a great job of kick starting the anti-war movement.

But I agree with you. If you hate this country so much then leave. I presented that same question to other self-hating american volconvo members. The reason they, and Mrs. Sheehan, don't leave is because the grass isn't greener on the other side.

Do you guys really think the problem many people like myself have with her is that she is protesting the war?

Also, there is very little admirable about that woman, her actions speak volumes of the character of person she is, and her goodbye letter... move lady, how about move in with old Hugo Chavez, there's a real hero.

Ah, the persistence of stale rhetoric.
<blatant sarcasm>
How dare we criticize the government. Don't we all understand yet that the government is never wrong, that finding fault with the country when it fails to uphold its own ideals is equal to hating it? Let's be consistent. If your children disappoint you, don't attempt to correct them, disown them. If your wife does something that you don't agree with, divorce her. If you don't agree with her, you must hate her.

Haven't we learned yet that trying to correct bad behavior is pointless? If you can't accept without complaint the government's violations of its own standards, you obviously hate the place and should move.

We should admire those Germans who stood by and said nothing in the 1920s. They were a shining example of good citizens.

And how dare we advocate peace. This is a Christian nation, and god would hardly support advocating peace. What's wrong with all of us?
