Vote for Rudy or Die!

I am reminded what a truly lousy mayor Rudy Giuilianni was. Rudy did perform well for about a week after 9/11, playing the heroic mayor for all to see. but other than that he is a disaster himself. - a philandering, cross dressing, mean-spirited thug who did nothing to protect New York against a terrorist attack.

He did nothing to correct the known weaknesses in the New York disaster response system, such as see to it that the police and fire radios worked and could communicate with each other. He was also stupid enough to insist, against the advice of all around him, to put the new Emergency Response Center in a building which had already been a target of terrorist attack, the World Trade Center.

Now the jerk is pulling a Cheney, claiming that if you don't vote for him there will be more terrorist attacks.

Giuliani warns of 'new 9/11' if Dems win
Quote:
“If any Republican is elected president —- and I think obviously I would be the best at this —- we will remain on offense and will anticipate what [the terrorists] will do and try to stop them before they do it,” Giuliani said.

The former New York City mayor, currently leading in all national polls for the Republican nomination for president, said Tuesday night that America would ultimately defeat terrorism no matter which party gains the White House.

“But the question is how long will it take and how many casualties will we have?” Giuliani said. “If we are on defense [with a Democratic president], we will have more losses and it will go on longer.”

“I listen a little to the Democrats and if one of them gets elected, we are going on defense,” Giuliani continued. “We will wave the white flag on Iraq. We will cut back on the Patriot Act, electronic surveillance, interrogation and we will be back to our pre-Sept. 11 attitude of defense.”

He added: “The Democrats do not understand the full nature and scope of the terrorist war against us.”
The man is a disgrace.

I agree Rick.

Didn't like Rudy before, during or after 9-11.

I personally think that his chances would have been better in 2004, had Bush been taken out of the equation.

Well, given the fact that the democratic congress is trying to pull us out of Iraq, and does want to scale back or eliminate the patriot act...

He didn't need to imply that the democrats would send us to hell in a hand basket. If they did it would certainly be a "green" hand basket with a very nice note.

Well, as Iraq had nothing whatsoever to do with the attacks of 9/11, all of Bush and Cheney's lies to the contrary notwithstanding, and as the misnamed Patriot Act has done nothing but diminish the most basic of American rights, without doing anything particular to harm the terrorists, it is unclear to me how Rudy's fear mongering is anything but demagogy of the worst sort. Or perhaps you still believe all the lies?

Of course given that Bush has gotten us mired in a needless war, has trashed our Constitution and destroyed our credibility around the world, I wouldn't worry about the Dems sending us to hell in a hand-basket. Bush and his gang have already done a good enough job already.

Sounds like a neo-con's wet dream. Too bad he supports publicly funded abortions--Southern conservatives might have rewarded this pond scum with their overwhelming support.

Well then I await the sweeping changes I was promised by the Democratic Congress. I have heard a whole lot of talk, but I have seen no action.

They all spent (Democrats and Republicans) time on a bill they ALL knew was going to be vetoed.

Is that really what we need right now? Why doesn't someone come up with a plan that both republicans and democrats can stand behind?

If Democrats supported this war, the republicans would oppose it. (Operation Desert Fox--Mini Iraq)

It doesn't matter what the issue is. Even if its the same damn issue congress will switch positions on it.

The Democratic Party opposed the first Iraq War? Please cite your evidence for that claim.

At first when I saw this, I thought, "He must really be floundering to pull this Hail Mary."

Then I realized: Americans STILL believe. They still believe Saddam had WMDs or had a program in development (51%). They still believe that Saddam either helped plan or gave support to al Qaeda (50%).

Holy mother of Mary, what the hell is wrong with people?

Hey, didn't Rudy improve the quality of life in NYC and made it the safest city in America? If he can do the same for the whole nation, then he has my vote.

Rudy had relatively little to do with it. He'll take credit of course. The crime rate was dropping before he arrived and continued to drop after he left. All we saw with Rudy was a spike in police brutality.

If I was choosing a New York mayor as president I would choose Mike Bloomberg.

Because we have a president who would be king who needs to be shown that he isn't. Endless war is the only policy Bush will accept.

And now we have Petraeus predicting that under the Bush's current plan for "victory" that things will get worse before they get better, that American casualities will continue to climb and that we will be in Iraq for all intents and purposes, indefinately. We need Congress to say that war without end is not sane policy.

Rick, I couldn't agree more. Congress needs to strike while the iron is hot on this discontent over the war. Once we get more of these Giulidiot statements out with $40m supporting it in advertising, public opinion may shift again.

Nothing sells like fear.

Perhaps I am overly optimistic but I think that at least some of America has fear-fatigue. Rudy's fear mongering sounds just like Cheney's insane rants and Cheney's approval rating is down in the high teens. I think once America gets to know Rudy the intial enthusiasm will wear off.

Wasn't "The Mayor" credited with cleaning up NY even before 9/11? That is no an easy task. Rudy shouldn't automatically be discredited because he is a Republican.
