| Hot Lava Location: Beijing Posts: 2,340 | McCain sings "Bomb Iran" It might be funny when my right-wing uncle does it, but when a presidential candidate does it, it makes me nervous: YouTube - Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran "What truth endures beneath the flaming stream?" -- A Volcano, Bartolome de Las Casas, Inferno de Marsaya, 1536 |

| Hot Lava Location: Beijing Posts: 2,340 | Get a life, indeed. McCain doesn't seem to understand that EVERYTHING is a big deal when you're president. No president would ever get away with a joke like this. If he wants to be president, he should act like it. | 9/11: Inside Job Location: Hawai'i, Big Island Posts: 10,437 | It's not just Presidents who should be diplomatic in their language. ALL high-level Federal officials need to be aware of the media's presence and the tendency for jokes to be misconstrued. Even worse if there is an element of truth. This was irresponsible. The US has thousands of nuclear weapons and has been threatening Iran in various ways for many months now. McCain voicing a predilection to bomb is supposed to create a Persian willingness to negotiate exactly how? Or is this militarist scion of a military family unconcerned with peace and only approving of war? | Hot Lava Location: Beijing Posts: 2,340 | Exactly. If he thinks we should take this as a joke - that's one thing. But if he expects Iran to, that's a whole other ballgame. What an imbecile. He knows Iran will see this. How can he expect to be able to sit down with Iranian leaders as president in future negotiations after this careless blunder? This alone is a reason not to vote for the guy. A successful Iran strategy is critical to our future success in Iraq and global security. | Volcanic Erupter Posts: 8,663 | And he said that "Bomb Iran" was an old Beachboys song, I am not so sure about that. As I recall my Dr Demento days some other group sang that song (although they sounded a little bit like the Beachboys), but I might be wrong as I am not a big fan of the Beachboys. Are not the Beachboys an All American band? They should sue him if McCain gave out miss-information. But I guess Repubicans are allowed to give out miss-information for free. In the news story McCain attempted to get comical in order to avoid answering the question asked, and he never did come right out and say that we should bomb Iran, or that we should not. He did the famous poltical side step, which could become a new dance fad when you dance to the tune Bomb Iran. Now here is a link so you can listen to the song mentioned in the news clip. Bomb Iran - Google Video And here are some words for another song that I wrote for this speical occation, which can be sang to Bob Dylans tune called "Rainy Day Woman" "They will bomb you if you live in Afganistan, they will bomb you if your live in Irag, they will bomb you if you live in Iran. But I would not feel so all alone, if first everybody got bombed. Bombed on beer, bombed on beer, yeah yeah yeah They will bomb you if you are driving in your car They will bomb you if you play your guitar, But I would not feel so all alone, if first we all got bombed (out of our heads). Yeeeha. |

His alienation of the wacko conservatives and his stance of military escalation in Iraq has sunk him.\ But McCain has been saying dumb stuff for years. How about this one: "Why is Chelse Clinton so ugly? Because her mom is Janet Reno." Stupid and insensitive, but at least this one was funny. |
