Yes. Emphatically! The US military has no 'political purposes', which you would know, had you ever served. It is illegal for one to make politically motivated statements in the media or other public forum while in uniform, representing the entire COUNTRY.

Of course, the Marine Corps apparently doesn't agree, as they will formally charge at least six of the Marines on the ground in Haditha for crimes up to homicide, as well as filing charges against their superiors up to the rank of Lt. Col. None of this would have come to light if Time Magazine hadn't reported on the massacre after local officers covered it up. Just like what happened after Mai Lai, come to think of it.

Sorry. JAG is not the "Marine Corps", as you suggest....it is only the most lefty outfit in the entire military, infested with solicitors trained in the finest Commie indoctrination centers in the Western Hemisphere, the Ivy League law schools.

This case is little more than a conspiracy between our enemy on the front lines who provide phoney video and testimony from insurgents and lefty JAG lawyers who want nothing more than to exercise their power over the line officers in the military, regardless of the outcome for our country's interests.

The IED that killed the one soldier by cutting him in half as he sat in the passenger seat of the Hummvee is what triggered the fire from the houses that the Marines then proceeded to clear with grenades and rifle fire.....as per their rules of engagement.

If you expect them to take fire without returning it just because the enemy is attacking from a civilian domicile, I would suggest that you expect a great deal more from them than you would enjoy for your own service, n'est pas?

Evidence that Corporal Tillman had been shot to death by fellow Rangers who believed that they were engaging enemy forces emerged on April 23, 2004, the day after his death in eastern Afghanistan. But, the investigation found, Army commanders did not notify his family of this suspicion as required, and did not tell them what had actually happened until 35 days after he was killed. The investigators recommended that the nine officers, four of them generals, be subjected to disciplinary action.

The military knew the truth within a day and then lied to the family and the nation for more than a month.

The bizarrely named "friendly fire" happens many times in battle, and the military would not have suffered if they had just fessed up and told the truth.

We have been lied to so many times it seems only the most resolute sheep in this country can still believe anything the government claims. The problem is, there are so damned MANY sheep out there.
