| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 8,663 | Questioning "equal rights for everyone". The consitution grants equal rights for everyone, People often toss that "saying" around but just what does it really mean, is the question I am posing, We must depend upon the courts and especially the Supreme Court to determine how we can share those so-called equal rights. And often people do not agree with what the Supreme Court determines. So who really knows what the heck those "equal rights" mean. If the Consitution insures that we all have equal rights under law then what difference would it make if the Supreme Court was "left wing or right wing"? Are those rights so fuzzy that they can be interpreted differently by different political leanings. That is not a very good foundation for us to be standing on, more like shifting sand then a rock. Now Jesus said; "Look at the sun, it shines on everyone the same. Look at the rain, it rains on everyone the same, no matter who they are. So be ye as perfect as God is perfect". And so the religious teaching of "equality for all" became part of our Consitution. That is how Nature treats us, and that is why God is perfect, and that is why our Consitution is perfect.... hmm? But is it fair if one person can have shelter and another one is homeless? How can everyone get rained on the same if we allow that? Does equal rights mean that each disciple should take turns washing the feet of the other disciples? Such is not the case, otherwise we could all take turns being a member of the Supreme Court. Policemen are granted rights that are not granted to the rest of us. And they are "our servents"? In other words.... the whole Consitutional concept that we all have equal rights is so fuzzy that it is nearly useless. Especally when your rights conflict with the rights of someone else. And how can we uncover any original meaning when many of the Consitutional writers had slaves and did not let the Indians to take part in voting and whatnot. Were they just writing nonsense to parrot the Bible or did they honestly comprehend what they were saying? Now if the Consitution is built on a solid foundation then I cannot rock the boat, But currently my perspective of it is that it is a bit topsy-turvy, if you know what I mean. Do you know? |
