Romney/Bush?

Quote:
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has dropped the name of Jeb Bush as being among a list of possible running mates for his campaign. Florida's former governor has largely been out of the public spotlight since Charlie Crist was sworn into office. He hasn't publically commented on Romney's announcement.
It'd certainly add some steam to his campaign. Jeb's record in Florida has been a Republican wet dream - cutting taxes every year and stimulating the economy as a result (while still keeping surpluses), slashing away affirmative action, stripping labor laws, implementing faith-based prison initiatives...

'Course it wouldn't get him many Democrat crossover votes.

Good lord no more Dynastic candidates. Mitt's reaching here way too far.

I don't know, Jeb's got a pretty good record for a Republican.

jeb probably would've made a MUCH better president than the loser that's currently in the white house.. but, i'm thoroughly done with the republicans, and especially the bushes..

they are nothing more than bald faced liars who support deficit spending and big government - just like their democrat brethren.

I always thought it was just that, that JEB should have been president instead of his brother that made George senior break down and blubber like an old drunk a couple of months ago.

A Bush on any Presidential ticket is a guaranteed loss for that ticket. Even if Jeb did a great job in Florida, his brother has poisoned the waters for him. Not to mention the Dynasty factor. Forget him.

I would never vote for another Bush, and Romney isn't offering anything to my views on politics.

I wouldn't vote for either, or both.

I wouldn't vote for Mitt whether he had Bush anyways. But it's a bad move on his part, Jeb's like the Barry Bonds of election stealing, second only to Katherine Harris, who he hired.

Well Romney hasn't settled on anyone yet.

I do find it hard to believe that Jeb's political career could be finished. What's next? Senate? Cabinet post in the new Republican administration, if that happens?

romney certainly seems to have some big money behind him... he's already raised $23 million.

Romney Tops Republicans in Fundraising - Forbes.com

the only person to have raised more is hillary with $26 million - and she has a former popular president raising money for her behind the scenes...

sad state of affairs that raising money even matters in the eyes of voters.

when these major-party politicians donate their enormous campaign funds to a worthy cause, rather than on meaningless signs and banners, they'll win my vote.

Romney is certainly good with the war chest. I thought he did an acepptable job in MA, granted, by the end he was shamelessly appealing to the republican base, trying to make everyone to forget he had been a gay marriage supporting, pro choiceish opponent to Ted.

Which makes him no different from McCain or Guliani.

agreed... overall, he did a good job for the state - but i was also a bit turned off by his actions towards the end of his term.. it was like having michael moore going to europe and bashing the u.s... romney went to crowds of bigots and trashed his own home. that's the primary reason why i wouldn't support him - aside from his connections to the establishment.

But then how would you know who to vote FOR?

The campaign ads beat everyone over the heads for a reason. The idiot sheep REQUIRE hypnosis and repetition. There are still a sickeningly large number of people in this country who wouldn't even know or care who is running, but instead prefer to go into the booth and look for the cute little pictures of the donkey or the elephant.
It was so bad at one time, in Delaware they ended up removing the big, straight ticket levers from the old-style mechanical voting machines.

Like I said, he's a political mercenary. He's hired to do a job, not be loyal or care about his next political opportunity, sorry, I mean home. MA was a step in his career for him, at least that's the impression I get.

dunno about you, but i'm not a big fan of being used as a stepping stone.. and, romney's disingenuity is a reason not to trust anything he says.

You could say the same about Obama and Clinton, methinks.

i am.

i'm not 100% behind paul on some of the finer details, but compared to the group of corrupt establishment candidates, i'd vote for him with confidence...

thinking ahead, though, i know he won't win the primaries because republicans believe in big government and imperialism.. they also believe in illegal immigration, since none of the people they've elected have done anything to stop the phenomenon.. so, after the primaries, i don't know if there will be anyone around worth voting for.

hope for america...
