Most Iraqis Want U.S. Troops Out Within a Year
Quote:
Say U.S. Presence Provoking More Conflict Than it is Preventing

Approval of Attacks on U.S.-led Forces Rises to 6 in 10

A new WPO poll of the Iraqi public finds that seven in ten Iraqis want U.S.-led forces to commit to withdraw within a year. An overwhelming majority believes that the U.S. military presence in Iraq is provoking more conflict than it is preventing and there is growing confidence in the Iraqi army. If the United States made a commitment to withdraw, a majority believes that this would strengthen the Iraqi government. Support for attacks on U.S.-led forces has grown to a majority position—now six in ten. Support appears to be related to a widespread perception, held by all ethnic groups, that the U.S. government plans to have permanent military bases in Iraq.

Surprise, the Iraqis want their country back!

If the overwhelming majority of Iraqis want US troops out and equally important if a solid majority of Iraqis support the insurgents attacking and killing our troops, why should we continue in our notably unsuccessful occupation? Who are we really fighting for?

Continue to support the Iraqi government, but get our troops out.

We should get out of Iraq and not support their government.

We made a hell of a mess of the place. We should help to clean up.

Nevertheless, the larger issue is that the Iraqis want us out and we should leave. Time for a phased withdrawal.

The other issue best not ignored is that we have lost the guerilla war. A majority of Iraqis support attacks on US troops. Without support of the locals there is absolutely no way to win.

Hey Rick!
You missed a whole lot of headlines in your post. I figured I’d add them for you, you’re not wanting to appear the cherry picker and all

World Public Opinion

The Iraqis support the ouster of Saddam!

Seems like they’re no so fast to shout “Bush’s Illegal war”

Q10. Thinking about any hardships you might have suffered since the US- Britain invasion, do
you personally think that ousting Saddam Hussein was worth it or not?

9/06 1/06
Worth it..........................................................................................61% 77
__________________________________________________________________________

The Majority of Iraqis recognize that they need help stabilizing the security of their nation.

How does that sit with the “get them out, now” crowd?

Q13. Do you think that six months from now Iraqi security forces will be strong enough to deal
with the security challenges Iraq will face or do you think Iraq will still need the help of military
forces from other countries?

9/06 1/06
Strong enough to deal with security

challenges on its own.....................................................................53% 39%

Will still need help of military forces from

other countries.................................................................................46 59

Don’t know/Refused (vol.)............................................................... 2 2

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Iraqis Trust New Government!

But I though it was a puppet of the U.S.

Q17: Do you think that the current Iraqi government is or is not the legitimate representative of
the Iraqi people?

Is.................................................................................................. ...................65%

Is not................................................................................................. ..............35

Ape you've done this before. The repetition is so damn foolish. Why is it a surprise that Iraqis are glad Saddam is gone? Of course you ignore the bigger issues entirely. And you still ignore my questions for you. Do you lack the wit or the honesty to answer?

Why do you think over 70% of Iraqis want out us within a year?

Why do 60% of Iraqis think that attacking American soldiers is OK? What are the chances of "victory" is a majority of the country approves of attacking the occupying troops? What does that say about the future of the occupation?

Put up or shut up, Ape. Or admit that you just keep repeating the same stupid slogans that have nothing to do with reality.

“RickSp;344824]So what is it, Ape? You demanded that I answer your questions. Are you incapable of answering mine?”

You have yet to answer a question. Reread and reply!

“Why do you think over 70% of Iraqis want out us within a year?”

Could it be that they have hopes that the situation can be stabilized within a year, thus ending the “insurgents” murderous attacks? That once those murderous attacks are halted, they can get down to the business of self-government?

You DO realize that the response to the poll you love to quote only part of, that you seem to have forgotten to include a link can be read to day that a Majority of Iraqis don’t want the U.S. to leave in less than 0ne Year? (69%)

“Why do 60% of Iraqis think that attacking American soldiers is OK? What are the chances of "victory" is a majority of the country approves of attacking the occupying troops? What does that say about the future of the occupation?”

Fear
Better them than us.
If they keep attacking, the U.S will kill them before they leave.

You continue to inflame the issue by using the term “Occupation”. Funny, the poll you love to use to bolster your beliefs while ignoring the rest does mention an occupying force.

In fact, 64% believe that Iraq is moving in the right direction. Hardly the kind of result one would expect to find if the government was collaborating with an occupational force.

Ok. Your turn!

Ape, bullshit and blather don't cut it, though that seems to be the all you have.

The reason I posted the graphs is because I suspected that you might have trouble with the numbers. I'll use words here as you seem to be having trouble with both numbers and graphs. Read for content, why don't you?

The Iraqis want their country back. All your lies about "democracy" and a "free Iraq" are shown for the bullshit they are by the Bush's refusal to even consider a phased draw down of troops.

You and your idiot king can keep denying reality all you want. All it will accomplish is more needless death of US soldiers and a worsening of the situation in Iraq.

White House hangs veto over pullout plan - Yahoo! News

Quote:
WASHINGTON - House Democratic leaders vowed Thursday to pass legislation setting a deadline of Sept. 1, 2008, for the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq, a challenge to President Bush's war policy that drew a blunt veto threat in return.

snip

Rep. John Boehner of Ohio, the House Republican leader, led the GOP counterattack.

"General (David) Petraeus should be the one making the decisions on what happens on the ground in Iraq, not Nancy Pelosi or John Murtha," Boehner added...
Now here comes the funny part. Go to this Al-Jazeera link and read what Petraeus says

Al Jazeera English - News

Quote:
Petraeus: Force will not solve Iraq

The new US military commander in Iraq has admitted that military might alone cannot solve the ongoing violence in the country.

General David Petraeus, in his first news conference in Baghdad since he took command last month, said: "There is no military solution to a problem like that in Iraq, to the insurgency of Iraq.
Now tell me folks does Boehner know what he's talking about?
