Our world has become a place where No news is the only chance for Good news. You can rent the movie Miracle so your children can see one of America's greatest Olympic achievements, but at the same time the news reports that this year American Olympians are being told not to wave Our flag. Video of a beheading after two weeks of abuse photos, but the beheaded's father says "My son died for the sins of George Bush & Donald Rumsfeld." The FBI checked Berg's laptop for a password just after 9/11, because prior to 9/11 he had been on a bus with the alleged 20th hijacker and loaned his laptop to the man. Then Berg finds his way to Iraq where at least 3 days before his body is found, he's in American custody in Mosul. The majority of people trying to make a living in this country can't make it to work without Gas, but even if these Gas companies found an alternate fuel source they'd still overcharge Us on every last drop of Oil they could find. While your paying for your Gas behind the counter you shouldn't be able to miss seeing a product that's guaranteed to kill you. Somehow a Yale Fraternity has given America two choices for President, the Republican hides under a Christian cloak while leading Us into a War for profit, but the Democrats managed to pick the man that stands for things that make the Christians wonder why they didn't just nominate satan. I can't remember the last time Bush talked about getting Bin Laden, remember now Bin Laden trained 19 men who used boxcutters to take 4 planes and caused 9/11. None of the men involved with 9/11 were from Iraq, most were from Saudi Arabia and the Saudi's control Oil production which controls our gas prices. The President could release Oil from the National reserve to lower prices, but that might mess up a deal, a Saudi prince admitted Bush asked the Saudis to increase production prior to the election. This President whose first business venture was owning an Oil company somehow has Republicans scared to death that the Ketchup princess's Knight in shinning armor (Medals but no Ribbons) will put a fifty cent tax on Gas. Americans should be worried about the rich getting tax breaks while we're going in debt (highest ever) to pay for the War. A Republican Senator wants to recall the tax breaks for the rich so they can share in the nations sacrifice for the war effort, other Republicans are calling him a traitor, and the man is a Vietnam Veteran. He was told if he wanted to see sacrifice to visit Walter Reeve or Bethesda military hospitals, but the same people don't think You and I should see a program where someone reads the names of Our fallen soldiers. Our entire election process has become a Traveshamockery, and I wish someone that the nation would listen to would do the right thing and call for a boycott of the corporate controlled deception of America. We shouldn't be trying to wave Our flag, It doesn't stand for what these Men have turned Our nation into...One nation, under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All.

As for releasing oil from the National Reserves to help reduce prices, it didn't work last time and I doubt it would work now. When Clinton opened up the reserves some years ago for the very same reason, the Wall Street Journal reported that oil companies shipped roughly the same amount of heating oil to Europe, because the price was higher there. Net effect to the U.S gasoline situation, 0.
As long as the fools in this country remain deliberately ignorant to the fact that big money owns the government this will continue. Remember, the big campaign contributors want something for their money (many give to BOTH sides in an election) and they invariably get it.
If memory serves, Jimmy Carter's so-called "windfall profits tax" on big oil during the oil embargo was shot down by a Demosrat Congress. Equal opportunity whores, the lot of them, and I believe BOTH parties ought to get their asses kicked out of Washington ASAP!

We are not being overcharged for oil, including gasoline. We'll pay what the market will bear. If you don't want to pay the asking price, don't buy it. If enough people stop using it, the supply would overtake the demand, and prices would drop of their own accord.

The Flag and the Olympics are an example of evidence that speaks to how the world looks at Our country now. Putting all the various opinions of what is right or wrong with America. Let's consider:

The Olympics is supposed to be a non-political competition between amature athletes!!!!!

However, as we all know regretfully, that didn't last for very long.

As far as waving our flag is concerned, I am fed up with all this Political Correctness. Every time an Israeli is killed, or one of our soldiers is killed a number of Palestinians wave their flag, along with Hamas, etc., all in celebration.

The administration of many schools and colleges demand that the American Flag be taken down and not publically shown - It might just offend someone - my comment:

If you don't like it, leave, nobody is forcing you to stay!!!!!

Every day of our lives, every one becomes offended in one manner, shape, way or form. Do we hide because of it?? Do we elinate the cause of the offense? Gee, I wonder if we did would there be anyone left on earth.

If our teams happen to win because of their honest efforts, then damn it wave our flag, all the other countries will - what makes them so much better???

Regardless of what anyone thinks, if our teame win, they should receive full recognition for their efforts. And that means to have our flag raised!!

Unless I am mistaken, our olympic atheletes are not government subsidized, whereas other state governments make provisions. This in my opinion makes their winning all the more credable.

Democrats & Republicans are both part of the Problem, but not all of them. A complete cover-up is supposed to go smoothly, If you control both sides...why does everything look so Bad? Our dear government didn't brainwash us into submission. Quite the opposite. Yes, if the other countries wave their flags, the US should have the same option. Also they march in on the opening day with flags and banners. Should our country not be allowed to show our flag then either? How about the little flags that the audience waves when their countrymen go by or are in competition? Is the US flag going to be banned there also?

This whole anti-US thing has gotten so out of hand and I don't appreciate so many US liberals and anti-war protestors wiping their feet on their own flag (so to speak). I can understand them being anti-Bush, but I will never understand them being anti-USA.

I think you're over-reacting. I think a lot of people are over-reacting. If you all didn't hate George Bush so much, you might have room in your heads for some objectivity.

One reason they're told not to wave is for a greater diplomatic effort to win back the graces of other countries by appearing humble. Another reason is because it could incite a rowdy crowd and harm the atheletes on that day or other competitions. The possibility of terrorist threats on the Olympic Games is raised because of Americans participating in the games. Just because the Olympics are apolitical doesn't mean that political connotations do not exist.

Absolutely true - the olympics have become a very political event. Countries fighting to have the Olympics held in their country, national pride - Our team(s) are the best, etc. Just let one of the other teams beat the USA team and see how humble they are!!!

We will never get into the good graces of many countries, regardless of what we do. Much of our honest diplomacy has failed, they just hate us anyway. So it is stupid and a wasted effort even to try.

Terrorists are going to do everything in their power to spoil everything that might show solidarity between nations, in order to keep as many as they can at each other's throats. Once the various countries start honestly negotiating their differences with the aim to coexist respectfully with each other, the terrorists will lose their hold.
