![]() Aristotle Location: Chicago, IL Posts: 4,155 | Is it wrong to Work on MLK Day? I think he is one of the most important individuals in American History. Not only for the changes he influenced, but he set a good precedent of how to bring about change. Through non-violence. Too bad the Muslims of the world have not studied his methods. To answer my own question, it is truely an insult to work today. It dishonors one of the Greatest Americans this country has ever had. |

If catholic countries took that approach I don't think they would ever work they have so many saints days. It's not disrespectful for an American to work on MLK day. It might well be disrespectful to MLK's legacy to push such intolerance as you are doing, though. Hard to see how goofing off qualifies as respectful. Rick "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross." Sinclair Lewis |

| BANNED Location: New York Posts: 4,217 | I wonder... Would MLK have supported Black History Month and a holiday? I don't think he would have. Having a whole month dedicated to Black History, and Hispanic Heritage, but not a White Heritage, is racism. That, and it draws attention to differences. So as someone already wrote in this thread, probably not. Personally, and as a black person, I think it's stupid to have a Black History month. |

| Skeptical Patriot Posts: 7,746 | You can take the day off if your employer LETS you take it off. You don't commemorate anyones life by losing your job. That very obvious statement was prompted by the memory of two different occasions where co-workers TOLD their bosses they were taking off although the day wasn't even a national holiday at that time. Not a day goes by that I don't see something that reinforces my belief that people are idiots. |
