Beginning in 1514 Spanish conquerors adopted "the Requirement," an ultimatum in which Indians were forced to accept "the Church as the Ruler and Superior of the whole world" or face persecution. If Indians did not immediately comply, the Requirement warned them: "We shall take you and your wives and your children, and shall make slaves of them, and as such shall sell and dispose of them as their Highnesses may command; and we shall take away your goods, and shall do all the harm and damage that we can." [11] Often the Requirement was read to Indians without translation, or in some cases even from ships before crew members landed to kill Indians and take slaves. [12]

Allports Scale The scale Allport’s Scale of Prejudice goes from 1 – 5. Scale 1, Antilocution Antilocution means a majority group freely make jokes about a minority group. Speech is in terms of negative stereotypes and negative images. This is also called hate speech. It is commonly seen as harmless by the majority. Antilocution itself may not be harmful, but it sets the stage for more severe outlets for prejudice. Scale 2 Avoidance People in a minority group are actively avoided by members of the majority group. No direct harm may be intended, but harm is done through isolation. Scale 3 Discrimination Minority group is discriminated against by denying them opportunities and services and so putting prejudice into action. Behaviours have the specific goal of harming the minority group by preventing them from achieving goals, getting education or jobs, etc. The majority group is actively trying to harm the minority. Scale 4 Physical Attack The majority group, vandalise minority group things, they burn property and carry out violent attacks on individuals or groups. Physical harm is done to members of the minority group. Examples are lynchings of blacks, programs against Jews in Europe, tarring and feathering Mormons in 1800s and British Loyalists in the 1700s. Scale 5 Extermination The majority group seeks extermination of the minority group. They attempt to liquidate the entire group of people (e.g., Indian Wars to remove Native Americans, Final Solution of Jewish Problem, and Ethnic cleansing in Armenia.).

Its true that we should move on and leave the past where it belongs...

However, we should not sacrifice learning history in the process.

but racism is so insidious that it will take ages to exterminate, if ever.

Stereotypes are perpetuated by society, both voluntarily and involuntarily.
Its a conditioned reflex.

We are groomed, programmed and conditioned from a young age to be competetive. We have been taught in school and at home and by peers that whites are a superior race when that is not true at all. In fact there is something called a one drop rule, that is worth looking into.

The White Supremecists got started too late. Every white person on the planet need only go to their 50th cousin to find some black blood in their family.

Official hate is not punished. This sends the wrong message to kids. Hateful kids are a symptom of hateful parents, teachers and leaders.

3/4 million people can be murdered by a president without any repercussions. But, the victims are dehumanized as only brown people. So he gets away with it.

exactly right, we should work together and educate some of the champions of "blacks arent slaves anymore, so were all even" faction. Mainly cephus, chancellor, and kemehameha.

i even linked to a study where people with simply white sounding names on resumes got 50 % more callbacks then people with simply black sounding names on resumes. And yet this study is dismissed out of hand!

We arent even talking about how huge a gap there is between whites and blacks when it comes to FACE to FACE interview, im gonna guess its even worse. and i think said this is most likely a major factor in why blacks nationwide are twice as likely to be unemployed as whites.

Its been this way for a while, black unemployment rate is twice the white employment rate, no matter if the economy is good or bad. in fact the statistics show that even when the economy improves, the gap remains exactly the same!
