| Sword of Truth Location: Elmira, NY Posts: 225 | Ignorance of those who attack Islam It is quite disturbing the ignorance that flows from peoples minds and toungues reguarding Islam and its Practices. This can be seen from the Senate Intellegence committee (who have no idea the differences of sunni and shi'ite) to the common person who has repeated these assumptions without any type of validation on their part. the majority of the populace here in the US have become parrots repeating their favorite heroes and taking what they say as the absolute truth. Whether they receive their dalal from Pat Robertson, George Bush or the State Department, they have no true inclination as to what Islam is nor the significant history prior to this engagement. But that is what to be expected from people who have no understanding of their own Christian faith, who practice blindly without ever really caring to reveal the Truth. |

More than likely the reading was too much for you and have decided that it is much easier to discredit the existence of a Higher power. It is unfortunate that for most people the craziness is all they see. |

How many times have we heard we are in a war against "terrorism." That is just rediculous! Terrorism is not a thing to war against. Terrorism is a tool of the enemy. Did we say in Vietnam we were in a war against "guerilla warfare?" Of course not. We clearly identified our target as North Vietnamese' government and their army or the Viet Cong. That is why we have to get focused and stop saying we are in a war against terrorism and clearly identify the target -- Islamic militants, or any other identifiable group and not their tools of the trade. Would we say in WW1 we are in a war against "trenches" just because trenches were being widely used in what we came to call as trench warfare? Of course not. Our enemies were clearly defined as Germany and her army and her government -- or the combatants. All I got to say is Generalization of any kind is the downfall of all society. I never attacked Islam myself, and I really have nothing against anyone in particular based on their ethnic backgrounds. --------------------- Mind you I do find that Muslims have to lighten the hell up. The amount of anger and protests that were done over a comic..... the amount of anger and protests from a British Minister (Or whoever) stating he felt women should remove their veil when in meetings.... was over the top. First.... one was a comic.... if they didn't like it, and they were opposed by someone depicting what their God looked like.... then say so and leave it at that. Secondly, the veil thing was a comment.... a recommendation.... last I heard, it wasn't passed by law in the UK, yet there was a big uproar and stink over it, and more protests. Now when all this BS about removing X-mas tress from public places, airports, government buildings.... switching "Merry Christmas" to "Happy Holidays" and all the other oppression that is occurring to Christianity, you'd think Christians would be causing riots, protests and anger about it.... but they're not..... ^ If Christians had the same mentality of their religion as "Extreme Muslims", then there'd be plenty of shit blown up long ago..... all in the sake of their religion and keeping it strong.... where's the logic? Added: And the stink that came about when the Pope quoted another person on Islam and "faith by the sword" etc.... way out of proportion.

What is so similar about the following statements? 1. Pigs can fly. 2. Illuminati is watching everyone of us with hidden cameras. 3. Aliens want to take over planet earth. 4. Muslims are terrorists They are mere lies or conspiracy theories...

I remember when Dogma came out (a movie I did enjoy personally) a relatively large number of local catholics protested some of the more popular theaters. I don't think anything was firebombed... Granted the group we're referring to is still a minority but I think when discussing the extremes of two different sides (who are not all that different in the end) you have to compare the size and/or frequency of these same minorities. In the world today when Jesus is depicted negatively the extreme minority might hold a reserved non-violent protest. When Mohamed is depicted negatively (or at all) places get firebombed and we see depictions worthy of the term "riot". What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?

| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 9,491 | Who is the greater terrorist - a madman who hijacks planes and flys them into buildings killing thousands, or the president who starts a war with a country that never attacked us and whose air force kills many many thousands more in the first days of the war? Can you say "shock and awe"? Both men claim to be guided by the hand of god. Who has created the greater terror? God made Man in his image. If we don't look like him then this statement is false. God has no image or form. Since Man has form then the statement is false. Which is it? Not a day goes by that I don't see something that reinforces my belief that people are idiots. | |
