| Igneous Magma Location: New York City Posts: 739 | Greatwyrm, do you really think that people have the choice of deciding whether or not they work? "Why yes, I'd love to starve to death, since the alternative is exploitation!" . . . whenever any government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute a new government, laying its foundations on such principles and organizing its powers in such forms as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. |

| Hot Lava Location: Spokane, WA Posts: 782 | I think that I might have made up my mind. I am a pacifist, but fighting for the equality for others is justified. So I would first try to educate as many possible, than attempt to destroy the economy. When the economy is in ruins, the next step is armed revolution. |

"Deluded" lefties (and righties) see other ways of doing things, or how other societies work, but most of them live HERE and not in these other societies. Most Americans who believe this nation and its culture think the U.S. is next to perfect usually have never been anywhere more exotic than Disney World. Of course they think this is the best because that's all they know. As for me, I love England and have been there on more than one occasion. I love their civility, the (relatively) ordered lives, and the impression I got that they do some thinking before making political postures. I'd love to live there, but I don't. I've never been there long enough to worry about taxes, crime, politics, and the like and therefore don't have the knowledge to assume they are better then the U.S.. But I love the country anyway. On the other hand, who here has known anyone from other countries who absolutely adore ours? In short, we are ALL deluded in some fashion, mainly from ignorance. Whether you get your opinions from books, TV and movies, or from casual visiting, I think it's just a case of different is better for some, and the "my country, right or wrong" types think everything is fine because they're USED to it. Whether it's some oppressive regime in the Mid-East, South America, or Africa, have you noticed a lot of those people actually smile a lot. Strange. I guess they're used to the way they live. Not a day goes by that I don't see something that reinforces my belief that people are idiots. |

| Sedimentary Rock Posts: 7 | Not having the time or the inclination to read all seven or so links, although I did read the first one...What the hell do you intend to replace "capitalism" with?? If there are no big companies to make computers or road graders...or no money with which to buy them.. I would suggest, even as a "wage slave" that capitalism is the most single successful system ever devised by human beings....if it were not for capitalism you would not have the ability to post this kind of nonsense and have people all over the world view it, shake their heads and move on to something constructive. |

| Hot Lava Location: Spokane, WA Posts: 782 | What system?! Come on karen you know me? Anarhco-Communism. Workers would still make computers and etc. and those who needed them would get them. I suggest, since you are new, (welcome) to look around the site as me and G. Adams have hijacked enough topics. |

But but its not the best possible. As we moved from feudalism to capitalism, we will eventually move from capitalism to communism, or whatever stages between to make it to communism. | Citizen #21521 Posts: 2,599 | Every man thinks his own system is the best..... Didn't Adolf Hitler believe Nazism was the best for everyone? He said all the time, Nazism is better than democracy and capitalism, Nazism is supreme, etc. We've heard the same old crap over and over. Adolf Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot. Every man thinks he has the solution to world problems. So we'll see another Communist revolution....another bunch of young Red Guards with their grand visions, before being dragged back down to Earth by reality....and another 40 million deaths.... We should not be asking whether another revolution can make everyone happy. Instead, we should ask, "Is it worth another 40 milion deaths?" Ideological loyalty is the act of giving your soul to a vague concept, to be manipulated by people smarter than you. |
