No, it's because of Ahmadinejad, and his rational is directed squarely at Israel. Minimize the Holocaust and you minimize Israel's raison d'etre, and therefore rationalize justification for its elimination.

Funny, I was talking to an Iranian (refugee) the other day who told me that the translation of Ahmadinejad's remarks about Israel had been wilfully cranked up rant-wise by the Western media. Unless you understand Farsi, how can you judge?
In any case, he's taking advantage of America having its feet in Iraqi quicksand to thumb his nose and score some political points.

As for holocaust denial, it's around all the time, and has been extensively debated, time and again, on this very board.
