| Citizen #21521 Posts: 2,599 | At my university recently there has been a bit of a buzz over the socialists being offered an alliance with the nationalists. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I've been studying in Australia for quite a few years, so I have no idea about the events back home. However the basic event is this: The socialists are a bunch of people against capitalism. They don't like the idea of cross-boders (ie. want a global world or something), but they're willing to compromise this for an alliance with nationalists. The nationalists are similiar, except they are against American capitalism and are opposed to the West in general (although they tend to like Germany more). Unfortunately the anti-Western attitude of the nationalists means they hate Marx, who happens to be the socialists role model (nationalists complain that the socialists are Western sell-outs). Now this is only a minor event at one university....but more of these "alliances" are happening. At my exchange college in Australia, the socialits have recently swallowed up the animal rights people (the animal rights people agreed to tone down their views to support the socialists). If you saw the news recently you'll find a university in Australia ended up with a riot where students caused around $4 million in damage (which ironically comes out of our fees!), and they were protesting against....high fees. Now the Greens are being pressured to join up with the socialists in exchange for a bigger voice, on the condition they also tone down their environmental stuff. Similiarly, I've been looking at some posts at Stormfront (KKK-style forum) and they've been talking of working together with European socialists, and in a few cases even Chinese nationalists (???). Not really care though about the white nazis or euro socialists, but nonetheless its quite interesting. What do you think of this alliance stuff? Do you think ultimately these alliances (which causes both sides to compromise) will benefit one side? Which side do you think will benefit the most: socialists, nationalists, greens, or the animal rights people? I don't think its really much...while the socialists/animal rights/greens/nationalists are loud, it doesnt mean they have any influence. Most of the groups of these people are "losers" - not in the term of being a loser, but more of being people who have nothing to look forward to in life, and are desperate to belong to the club (kinda describes the nationalists too). From what I see creative entrepreneurism has been growing at an enormous rate, and with government support it doesn't look like the fringe groups are going to have much affect. Ideological loyalty is the act of giving your soul to a vague concept, to be manipulated by people smarter than you. |
