Regretfully, the Palestinian people have been duped into believing arafat is for the people. They are taught from childhood to hate the Americans and Israelies, that their poverty, etc. is our fault, and all the while without them realizing it their education and media is state controlled. They are really unaware that the billions of dollars sent for the benefit of the people have been deposited in his personal bank accounts. Also, he secretly encourages the suicide attacks and even funds them through his antafada. However, with Hamass and the other terrorists alive and well in the area Sharon must be careful not to incite an all out war with the Palestinians and the surrounding Arab states. Killing arafat would just do that and all hell would break loose. I say go in and remove him - put him in prison with no outside contacts, treat him decently, and have a televised appearance once a week to show he is still alive. This might force the Palestinians to seek a real leader who will end the terrorism and establish peace between the two nations. Another reason Bush would not want that is because he does not want Arafat to become a martyr. The only type of assassination Bush would support would have to be something that would look like natural causes. If Sharon kills Arafat the killings will pick up and then they will even off back to their current levels. The attacks will never stop. It is just a question of how many attacks and everything you have to watch out for.
