Yes the incident in Lebanon is unfortunate. However Israel has the right to defend itself and the Lebonese government has the responsibility to maintain control of their people. Hezbollah is resonsible for the attacks on Israel. Israel is responding. Lebanon has the ability to stop Hezbollah and their ruthless attacks. After this and only this will Israel engage in truces and peace talks. Israel's target is not the government of Lebanon or the innocent people of Lebanon, but rather Hezbollah.

I sympathize with you, but I will not sign your petition. The Lebanese government has the ability to stop the violence. It is up to them not me. I went to your link. It failed to move me. Not only is it biased, but it failed to show what Hezbollah did to Israel. It is similar.

Note to Hezbollah: Do not buy a few missiles and launch into a country that has a basically endless supply of missiles, they will destroy you.

I've been on the net with three Americans stuck there.
The history is Hezbollah are Iranians who slipped down through Lebanon to the southern border to be there to make trouble or war.
They were to disband as part of the previous pull out agreement in getting out of Lebanon before.
They did not disband, since the pull out had lobbed missiles every so often at Israel and have recently crossed into Israel to attack their military and take prisoners.

Israel will be happy to wipe these Iranians on the southern border all out and then Lebanon can have it's country back from the Iranian Hezbollah.

Hezbollah are a cancer and Israel is the Kemo.

It is depressingly cruel that innocent people die in course of military actions.
However, the Lebanese governing body is being held co-responsible for these events, since it has been failing to remove and/or terminate any terror-related organization(s) from/on its territory.

Lebanon has no ability whatsoever. The lebanese government doesn't have half the military power of Hezbollah. We already have Israel bombing us. We don't need Hezbollah too!
What's happening is for the benefits of both Hezbollah and Israel. This way Hezbollah has an excuse not to disarm since they can claim defense and Israel can attack us claiming they're attacking Hezbollah.

I agree. Hezbollah cares nothing for the Lebanese people. If the Lebanese people and govt cannot control the terrorist forces in their midst, they should ask the UN to step in.

If you want the dying to stop in Lebanon, your petition should call for the immediate cessation of all Hezbollah cross border attacks of all kinds into Israel to be followed immediately by the expulsion of Hezbollah from the territory of Lebanon.

Accomplish that, and the shelling stops. End of story. And end of dying.

You see, my way stops the deaths on both sides of the border. Israeli and Lebonese can go about ht business of burying theor dead and rebuilding.

Hezbollah, not Israel, is responsible for the deaths in both countries. They are the reason for the hostilities.

But you know that.

I do hope they step in... But they only do what the US wants... and it seems like the US has given a green light to the raids.

I take your nation's side in this conflict, youmny. The bloodthirsty Zionist savages should be restrained with the leash of US discipline.

Sure, just have all those who oppose Israel surrender and join the U.S. in supporting without question whatever Israel wants to do. That's all that's holding up the peace.

And I suppose then, if the UN should happen to declare, say, Indiana as a "homeland" for native Americans, you'd have no objections, and furthermore expect all those in Indiana to similarly offer no resistance to giving up their land?

Just saving you some time. This is the year Israel entered the Middle Eastern scene. The year it invaded Palestine and became a state.

And yet Israel existed over 2000 years ago as a nation. Hence, the starting point of 1948 is invalid, which was my point

Typically, the war mongers blame the victims, the Lebanese, for Israeli brutality. A typical excuse used by bullies.

Of course, Israeli has the right to defend itself. That doesn't include the right to murder civilians or to destroy a country just recovering from a long war.

I signed the petition.

At least read what youmny wrote before you agree to what he did NOT say. Typical. Only see what you choose to see. Another chip-on-shoulder type.

Hezbollah are Lebanese. Hezbollah are Lebanese. Always have been, and always will be.

Why should UN troops guard Israeli borders?

IDF Must Take Precautions to Protect Civilians Fleeing Areas at Risk

Israel: Investigate Attack on Civilians in Lebanon
(Beirut, July 17, 2006)
Quote:
Human Rights Watch
The Israel Defense Forces should provide details about a bombing on Saturday that killed 16 people in a convoy of civilians fleeing a Lebanese village near Israel's border, Human Rights Watch said today.
Under international humanitarian law, all parties to an armed conflict must take all feasible precautions to protect civilians fleeing areas at risk
On Saturday, a number of families fled the southern Lebanese village of Marwahin after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) warned them to evacuate ahead of a threatened attack. On the road leading to the coast through Chamaa, however, Israeli missiles struck a convoy of the civilians. Maps of southern Lebanon show this road to be the only direct route for escaping the dangerous border area.
"The IDF needs to investigate this attack on a civilian convoy and provide more details about the circumstances," said Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East director at Human Rights Watch. "Having warned civilians to evacuate their village, Israeli forces should have been aware that civilians would be using this road and should have taken great care to avoid harming them."
Quote:
Human Rights Watch
A photographer for an international news agency who arrived at the scene two hours after the attack told Human Rights Watch that he saw a white pick-up and a passenger car completely destroyed. He counted 16 dead bodies. This account was confirmed to Human Rights Watch by UNIFIL (the U.N. peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon), which had dispatched a vehicle to the scene to recover the bodies and transport them to the city of Tyre. Subsequent news reports placed the number of dead at 20, including 9 children.

sickening war hawk rhetoric. \

If you know anything about how Chemo works your statement may be a bit accurate. Chemo works by being indiscriminate in its killing of human cells. They not only kill malignant cells but healthy cells at the same time.

This action by Israel is a gross overreaction. And a shame. They have been re building Lebanon and Beirut for the last 20 years.

Sad.

So, since native Americans have been in this country at least as long, are you going to answer my question?

Lebanese PM: 300 Dead During Onslaught
Quote:
Lebanon's prime minister said Wednesday that 300 people have been killed, 1,000 have been wounded and a half-million displaced in Israel's week-old onslaught on Lebanon.

Prime Minister Fuad Saniora said he would seek compensation from Israel for the ``unimaginable losses'' to the nation's infrastructure and he appealed for an end to hostilities on a humanitarian basis.

In a swipe at the international community, particularly the United States, which said Israel was acting in self-defense, Saniora said: ``Is this what the international community calls the right of self-defense? Is this the price to pay?''
All the fevered rhetoric doesn't change the facts. The Israeli attack on Lebanon has been brutal and indiscriminate.
