Bush To Address NAACP

Bush To Address NAACP

White House sees ‘moment of opportunity’ in first appearance as president

WASHINGTON - After rebuffing the NAACP for five years, President Bush will speak at the annual convention of the oldest U.S. civil rights organization for the first time since taking office because he sees "a moment of opportunity," the White House said Tuesday.

Bush was the first sitting president in decades not to address the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

His decision to appear before the group Thursday comes as the Republican Party tries to court black voters ahead of crucial congressional elections in November.

(Excerpt)

It's a racist organization and there is nothing good that could come from it for the President IMO. He might as well be walking into the KKK, La Raza or a Black Panther meeting.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." -

So why do you think he is doing this now? The words "political whore" and "cheap electioneering" come to mind.

Not a day goes by that I don't see something that reinforces my belief that people are idiots.

I think he is doing it to say he made the attempt, but IMO all they will do is attack him.

I can tell you in ONE word why Bush is addressing the NAACP this year, and he declined all the previous years...............KATRINA.

etched FOREVER in the hearts of every American who witnessed this atrocious lack of response by Bush adminstration.

I hope they have his guts for garters when he shows up. We had eight evacuees from Katrina end up at our home outside Baton Rouge after Katrina, and I recall the outrage of those people applying for days in extreme heat, and unending cattle call lines for emergency help, they wouldn't even say Bush's name

The days of attacking him are long gone. I suspect a VERY close scrutiny of the audience will precede any visit by Bush.

I think he's just being a good party man and trying to use what minimal "star power" he may have left to make the Republicans up for election look like they give a shit about the people.

I have a friend who is the NAACP president in a parrish in Louisiana, she and her husband will be attending the speech. Trust me, they aren't any friends of Bush, and work as much on racial issues as anti war movement. I'll be interested to get her impressions of the event.

Sad stuff but even today the government has told New Orleans residents to not depend on the government for evacuation.

You had the mayor who left the buses and the governor of the state that did nothing and that right there are the folks that are supposed to be their first.

Then being the area is so crime ridden, rescuers were being shot at by drugs dealers, drug users and other criminals who were looting.

Rescuers could not even go in there without law enforcement, it was that bad.

You never depend on government for your personal safety in a disaster, you get yourself out or could die.

The place became all flooded and you could only get boats in at one point to some areas (which were shot at).

Then the locals were killing the old people they cared for by injection so they could leave. Real nice!

I think it is a racist organization. They are obsessed about race over everything just like La Raza and the KKK.

What do you think that the first FEMA guy did that was wrong?

He had to try and activate a rescue of a massive scale in places you could not land planes or helicopters. Boats were often fired upon by looters, drug dealers and other such criminals.

Government always takes forever to get these kinds of things done.

Look now at Lebanon, it's been days and 25,000 mostly non-black people are there still and not rescued. (Happens to non-blacks equally if they don't listen) They were also told to leave, not stay because it was dangerous and it is taking forever to safely rescue there as well.

Learn the lesson, listen when people say get out or stay away and don't depend on the government to rescue you when you make bad choices.

The responsibility mostly belong with the people who were long before told to leave and failed to do so putting themselves in harms way and putting others who would have to rescue them in harms way.

Bush will get the SAME responsibility for any lost American lives in Lebanon, for his inability to respond in a timely manner, kinda like that my pet goat story he couldn't tear himself away from, after he heard COUNTRY UNDER ATTACK, and the shit in his pants, and deer in the headlight pose.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Bush and the Federal Government are responsible for the suffering of New Orleans. Sure

Not the Govenor, not the mayor, not the people that did not leave; it's Bush's fault.

Because he ordered the governor not to declare a state of emergency. Bush told the mayor not to use the available assetts to move the people to safety in the hours before the storm hit. Bush addressed the citizens of New Orleans and told them to stay where they were.

Let's not forget the explosive device placed on the levy. Farakhan will produce the evidence of that soon.

Do you guys ever get tired of slinging this garbage?

Bush is NOT responsible for Americans in Lebanon. The state department told people that if they go their that they will not be able to protect them and that it is dangerous. Been that way for years and if people want to work, vacation there or visit relatives, that is their choice and risk.

If you decide to go pee on an electrical socket against the suggestion of OSHA, that is your own darn fault as well. You can't be treated like a dumb irresponsible child your whole life. You have to be responsible for yourself and your choices.

I've had contact in the last 24 hours with three people stuck in Lebanon and they also know darn well it was their risk, not Bush's fault.

That is just a child like view IMO.

Bush also dragged their grandma behind their cars with chains and told them all to drop out of school... LOL

It is a liberal/Democrat mentality IMO.

Part of it is their hatred of the President of course because they have been out of power for so long.
The other part of it is they have been somewhat trained to expect things THROUGH THE GOVERNMENT and not being self reliant and getting their own success and stuff.

One is a capitalists philosophy and the other is a socialist/communist philosophy IMO.

Two days before Katrina hit Bush through FEMA declared it a NATIONAL emergency, that pretty much put Katrina relief in the hands of the federal government

The NAACP is a racist organization. A decorated Marine hero is a coward. Bush is a hero and a patriot. Wet is dry. Up is down. War is peace.

Just more GBA Orwellian nonsense.
