Whats Wrong With This Picture?

Two stories today are both a bit odd. can you spot whats out of place? I found several oddities.

US Could Lose in Iraq Due to Negative Media Coverage: Commander

Fri Jun 30, 12:33 PM ET

WASHINGTON (AFP) - A US combat commander suggested the United States could lose the war in Iraq if public support for it at home is sapped by negative media coverage.

"My personal opinion is that the only way we will lose this war is if we pull out prematurely," said Colonel Jeffrey Snow, a brigade commander in Baghdad.

And This one too:

Gonzales: Gitmo ruling 'hampered' war on terror

"What this decision has done is, it's hampered our ability to move forward with a tool which we had hoped would be available to the president of the United States in dealing with terrorists," Attorney General Alberto Gonzales told CNN.

This second one has a legal error.

Odd, coming from the top law maker in the land. (Thats your only hint  )

Not a big deal, the terrorist caught at the beginning of the war will be sent back to Iraq and Afghanistan for hangings.
I'm sure the liberals and those attempting to aid terrorists will love that.

I guess nobody could find the simple flaws here.

In the first story the Commander is shifting blame for his own failure. Scapegoating. The media isnt fighting a doomed "war", he is. For another thing the "war" is over. This has been an occupation since the government was overthrown. Without a plan for the peace. Is the media to blame for that?

The colonel said "My personal opinion is that the only way we will lose this war is if we pull out prematurely," was he such an outspoken critic before the war, with opinions like "We shouldnt rush in to this war until we justified in going in" and "We should have a plan for the peace". Now he is faced with admitting his own personal failure, and since his own ego wont allow it, he blames the observer. Thats right, "Shoot the Messenger!" is the flaw in the first story.

In the second story, the standard terminology is AWOL. The "Alleged" terrorists or "suspected" terrorists is missing from torture boys vocabulary. Weare supposed to just accept that these people they have rounded up for assorted misdemeanors, are not guilty of anything. They should be presumed innocent until they are charged with a crime; granted legal representation and a fair trial, ideally with a jury of their peers.

I forget, are we the good guys?

You have to keep in mind, this is a war of choice, a war of agression. Put the blame for the whole bloody game where it belongs. The insurgents are not to blame, they oppose occupation by infidels. The "terrorists" are only about 2% of the problem, whereas they were 0% of a problem before we showed up. The media is not a problem, unless they lie about what is happening.

I like this motto:

Dan the idea man. I like your motto. It's funny, I had just thought that someone should make that very t-shirt/sticker. Last night I saw a 12-15 year old girl wearing a shirt that said "I (heart) me". The heart was an american flag. heh. Is this what america is about? "I love me" Well, I suppose a little pride gives a person productive self-confidence. I'm sure you understand what I'm saying...

You're a trooper, man.
