I'm not saying "Bush is the savior of the nation" or "Bush is the best president who ever lived." I am not a blind "Bush puppet." I'm simply pointing out that, although our election system isn't flawless, it is certainly one of the most secure and stable means of transfering power in the history of the world. It is therefore puzzling why you have such a lack of faith in such an institution. You did pass your high school goverment class didn't you?

Judging from the actions of the League of Women Voters, I think it will be safe to say all elections will probably be stolen from now on, as long as they are in charge of the debates and campaign rules.

Does money decide the gubernatorial election? People lament that the days are gone when we truly had dedicated citizens step forward to serve their state for a term and then move back to their farms. Now we have career politicians who excel in getting money from people who expect favors and jobs for their donations. Sure, there are honest politicians, but somehow power corrupts and the donors understand that. So people know that the richest candidate usually wins. But wait. Imagine we have a citizen who is still honest and willing to serve one term and then to go back to his private life. He has not appealed to special interests for campaign funds, but he has managed to get enough signatures from all 88 counties in Ohio to be on the ballot (13000+ raw signatures; 5000 valid signatures needed). Should this person be in the debates? Of course, the more ideas to improve Ohio the better. And you don't need money to get into the debates or do you? The League of Women Voters has informed the Peirce campaign that Bill Peirce(Libertarian for Governor of Ohio and Professor Emeritus of Economics at Case) needs to show that he has at least 15% of the vote before he can participate in the debates. Of course, reaching that 15% floor requires money for an ad campaign – big money – the kind you can raise by appealing to the special interests. Money, it has been said, is the life blood of politics. Regardless of party, you should all be furious over this in my opinion, but hey, I give a shit about voting rights, fair-vote, open-debates, and actually having a Constitutionally Limited, Democratic Representative Republic.

How much money will this years national and state elections cost? How much profit did big oil companies make this year? That is a good number to start at.
