Quote by: grumpy_one Why do terrorists hate Americans. I checked the "other" There are tons of answers to that, and I think it depends on who you ask.
1. I think that some (notice I don't say all) of them look at us and would like to be like us, but figure they will not ever get the chance. And if you doubt this, look around at how many people from Middle East countries who have come to America to live.
2. Because they are told to hate us by both their leaders and their holy book.
3. Because we probably do seem like the bully. We have money and power (who doesn't want that?)
I don't believe in the whole oil argument. There are six countries that supply us with more oil than Iraq (by a lot too), and those countries it would have been easier to take, so why would we start with Iraq?
Oh, and for you that doubt #2, here are some quotes from the Qur'an to chew on
Kill disbelievers wherever you find them. If they attack you, then kill them. Such is the reward of disbelievers. (But if they desist in their unbelief, then don't kill them.) 2:191-2
War is ordained by Allah, and all Muslims must be willing to fight, whether they like it or not. 2:216
Have no unbelieving friends. Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them. 4:89
For the wrongdoing Jews, Allah has prepared a painful doom. 4:160-1
Christians will be burned in the Fire. 5:72 |
Yeah, we could have attacked Canada and got all their oil, they supply us with the largest percentage of imported oil. Only it would have been more difficult to make folks think that they are in co-hoots with Bin Laden. And Saddam fit the image of a "evil looking guy" and so off we went.
Also we had less chance of winning a war with Canada and not sure if England would have backed us up on that project. After all - the mounted police in Canada "always get their man" - and so who would want to "mess with them".
