The story that Homer wrote about Iliad was about a real person according to historical evidence discovered recently. They found his house on a greek island, according to the wicca news network. The new discovery takes Homer out of the mythology section and puts his writings in the same status as other books that have historical evidence - such as the Bible. Check out the news story and let me know what you think about this new data. http://wiccanet.us/CMS/modules.php?o...rticle&sid=299 |

Homer could've just seen that Ajax seemed like a good person to put in a story and then exaggerate his achievements... Not that I've got anything against the illiad, I think its a great piece of work and I studied it at school when I was younger. |

| Volcanic Erupter Posts: 8,663 | By the way the news story came from Athens. It mentioned two sites that were talked about in Homer's poem. The new one and another one near Athens. Also they found relics that suggest he made a journey to other places as the poem so noted. The news story said that Ajax was one of the people in the poem, not that the poem was just about that one person. So was Homer's poem about real people and real places, or total mythology based on Homer's imagination? And did those events acturally occur but in perhaps a less exaggerated manner? |
