| Gunpoint Inculcation Location: Earth Posts: 28 | A Typical Day in Heaven Although I am an atheist, I was wondering if anyone could explain what a day in heaven would be like. Seeing as this is the place Christians want to go, I find it odd that none of them can actually explain what goes on there. When asking other Christians, more or less I've been given the response that heaven is a place of eternal bliss, and that seems to get them on the boat. I would think that heaven would be close to an amazing acid trip, full of wonder, emotion, introspection, and generally things that we could not begin to imagine or experience here on earth. ![]() Collect some stars to shine for you, and start today cause there are only a few. Or we may be so overcome with God's glory that we can do nothing but worship Him forever in some spiritually ecstatic state. Either way, because of my experiences already as a person whose spirit has been transformed by God, I know that my future is glorious, even though my remaining years of life on this earth are few. You know, acting out daydreams and stuff like that. But that is not what is referenced in the bible, and for some reason taking away all your worldly desires and worshiping God all day long seems a bit like brainwashing to me. I know your type. | Gunpoint Inculcation Location: Earth Posts: 28 | http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hierarchy_of_angels There appears to be a chain of command in heaven, as well as jobs to be carried out. This brings about even more questions. Three I find most appealing: 1) Where do human spirits fit in this heirarchy? 2) "The Thrones are angelic beings shaped like shiny orbs of shifting colors. Their duty is to carry the throne of God around..." This seems like a pretty balls job to me. If one were given a job in heaven could they just say "no thanks, i'mma go (insert more entertaining venture here) for a couple hundred years." Or is god a my way or the highway type of ruler? 3) The Heaven Complex (credited to a friend of mine): A grandmother loves her grandson. He is the most important thing in her life next to god. She lives a wholly Christian life and when she dies her spirit goes to heaven. The problem- Her grandson is an atheist, agnostic, buddhist, etc... and as such when he dies his spirit burns in the lake of fire. Would not the grandmother be in her own personall hell watching her beloved grandson burn for all eternity? Collect some stars to shine for you, and start today cause there are only a few. Think of it this way: I know that through a process that their is a certain hierarchy of which we use to classify animals, but this does not mean that one animal higher on the chart goes around ordering all other animals around. And when an animal is placed in, it is not like they are placed in worse conditions than the other animals or treated differently, rather they are just subjected to a different environment. Compare that to heaven. "I believe Christianity as I believe the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it, I see everything else." -C.S. Lewis- | |

| Pure Energy Posts: 299 | 1) Human spirits are flying around right here, right now. 2) "god's" throne may be the human body as vessel of life. Very easy to carry around, 'eh? 3) Yes. Grandma's hell may be her grandson's heaven. In heaven, all possibilities abound and the stories and myths utilize abundant symbologies. Whatever a personal ideal of heaven is, it should be easy enough to find it's analog in religious texts, however confounding the translated verbology can be.
