| Digital Witchcraft Posts: 3,020 | A question for theists My question is simple. There are approximately 270 religions known to this world. Most theists can't choose all of them, and most stick with just one in particular. My question is, what does your faith and/or religion have that another's faith and/or religion doesn't? |

I don't however accept their "world in seven days" mythology. Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. I do not shop around religions looking for the best one. I was raised on one religion and when the time comes I can choose to accept it or not. More later "I believe Christianity as I believe the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it, I see everything else." -C.S. Lewis-

My religion does not put me prostrate beneath the feet of my God's and Goddesses, but gives me the oppurtunity to be worthy to stand and fight alongside them. It challenges me to become better, to improve myself in someway every day. My religion respects the balance between humanity and the wider world, and the vital interconnection between all aspects of life. Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. Winston Churchill

You don't shop around, looking for the best one? So you openly admit you aren't considering all of your options? Just "was raised on one religion and when the time comes I can choose to accept it or not." That's all you're doing? Surely you must realize the error in that plan. Your limiting your option to just your enviroment. Are you confident you got lucky and were born into the enviroment of the correct (if any) religion? More later, eh? I sure hope you learn to stay on topic before you post more. Just look at what you've done! I've spent a whole post veering off the original topic! The insanity will doom us all, freind. At least that's my opinion. Last edited by Lullaby Chainer; Feb 20, 2006 at 06:09 pm.

| The Professor Location: Owasso, OK Posts: 648 | I'm not sure I like how this thread could pit people against one another, but I guess I can give an answer. I don't intend to engage in a battle, but I'll let you know why I stick with my beliefs. I think the phrase "by your fruits, ye shall know them" would be one of my big reasons. The church I am in does not attack people, does not condemn people, and teaches all sorts of good things. Healthy living, good work ethic, good attitude towards life and other people. Also, no one in my religion is paid, so I know that many of them are motivated because they feel it is right. And I couldn't ever agree with a religion that said you can do whatever you want as long as you believe and confess before you die. Also my church does a lot for people. So much time and money is given to help people in the towns we live in, whether the people we help are members or not. A lot of aid is given to disaster areas and foreign countries. Besides that, I tend to think that the best way to learn something is to live it. By living the way I was raised, I have seen the benfits that it promised. Its hard to explain. But why spend all my time exploring if I think i have a good answer? Don't get me wrong. I still learn about other people and other religions, but I don't actively search for another answer, I just logically look at them as I come across them. Also, I feel my beliefs are more solidied than some because I have to books of refernce instead of one. It makes them much easier to understand when you compare them to each other. Well, there you go. Tear at it if you wish. |

It also explains destiny, luck, probability etc etc satisfactorily based on Karmic theory and Reincarnation. The religion is named as "Sanatan Dharm" meaning the properties which exist always (Eternal). ![]() Last edited by Kuldeep; Feb 27, 2006 at 02:48 am. Reason: correction |
