I don't know what the worst sin is, but the Devil's favorite sin is "vanity" (see "Devils's Advocate")
I love that movie!

Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. -- Song 8:6

Now, Isher, did I ever give you that impression? Now stubbornly insisting to be undecided is simply foolish. Questioning is supposed to lead somewhere.

Besides, if you are any kind of objective, you would be forced to admit that some non-Christians are hateful of Christians. They are cruel and intentionally offensive where they don't need to be. They automatically assume intellectual superiority to anyone stupid enough to be duped by a pack of obvious lies. They stereotype true faith to the illiterate, the inbred, the uneducated and the gullible.

To such people, the greatest sin is believing anything at all.

Granted. Especially those whose lives have been adversely affected by religion. People do tend to hate their oppressors, and if that oppressive force was christianity, then I can see where they'd hate it.
Most of us here though simply don't believe in religion or see a need for it. Disbelief, not hate.

Jester, you are a bit too simplistic. Love of money, for instance, is something that could easily be sin. Loving some to the detriment of others is sin (viz racism). Loving oneself overmuch is one of the fastest routes to sin. Loving food too much is gluttony. Loving peace (personal, not interpersonal...before I have to hear about being a warmonger) too much can lead to complacency. Loves can most easily lead to sin.

It is not enough merely to love. Love is important, though. It is vital to love that which is good. (Note I don't mean good people because no one is good save God alone...loving others is vital, but is a function of mercy). At any rate, sin is far more complex than "all you need is love". Anyone could have figured that out. It would not have necessitated a Savior.
The "love of money" is really more of a lust (a craving) than of love..."Love does not insist on its own way." One who loves would not love "some to the detriment of others". They would love all equally..."it is not irritable or resentful." "Loving oneself overmuch" is not considered a true love..."love is not jealous or boastful". Your statement, "Loving peace too much can lead to complacency" does not take into consideration that "it (love) does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right." One would not be doing right should they want peace for only themselves.

You're confusing love with lust. 1 Corinthians, chapter 13:4-7 explains what love is and what it is not. Love does not lead to sin, however doing things that are not of love does. One who completely loves could NOT sin because they follow the meaning of love and live it. As humans, we are incapible of know what true love is. This is why we sin and, therefore, shows us that the "worst" sin is not knowing and showing love in ALL that we do.

You presume that "questioning" means being uncertain or undecided. Certainly in my case "questioning" means "how on earth can anyone believe in such nonsense?"

You don't imagine it might be for having spent their - our - entire lives listening to men of God and the millions of our fellow citizens, neighbors, family and friends who listen to them declaring to the world that >WE< are to moral equivilent of thieves, murderers, drug dealers, child molesters and communists, that >WE< are immoral by definition, and that >WE< deserve to suffer unspeakable agony for all eternity because we happen to believe something different.

But you're probably right, why should we allow a little thing like that make us bitter towards our persecutors.

The greatest sin? Failure to do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

I do not know if this is a sin,but here goes . when you do nothing, and you could of done something, and you do nothing.

Sin can only come from the mind not the heart.?

Sin will test the heart and mind.?

Morals from the heart will stop sin.?

That's about it can not think any other way.
EXCELLENT CHECKMATE.......beautiful writing, wow! you almost amswered the question "What is the worst sin?"

SON>>>>>I am amazed that a writer with your intelligence has not revealed what the greatest sin is in my story. Read it over, it is very obvious.

ZEA>>>>> in case you haven't figured it out, I don't give a rip.

But if you insist, here's my guess to what YOU would view as the greatest sin ---- Thinking.

Thank you Son for a very intelligent guess, tho it was not the right one. Thinking can be very sinful. You could say that is where all sin begins..a thought, then action, right? Yes, I know you give a rip, you answered, right?

Zealot, logic is the greatest sin. Remember when you said "That may be your problem, logic!!! God defies logic!"

Good job representin' for God there with the whole "don't be logical or use your brain" argument.

I answered because you addressed me. It's called common courtesy.

LOL I was going to say that before I decided on thinking, since it's in my little tag line, "It's simply logical", and Zealot addressed me specifically.
