I would like some feedback to see where people stand on this. I hope it isn't too long. "HERO? Two warriors stride, a goal to fulfill. A village in servitude prays for aid As it bows to the mighty dragon’s will. In spite of the danger vows had been made. The first champion, with lots of laughter, Claimed it was time for the town’s new chapter, Promised to slay their hideous captor, And he would return to glory and praise. Leaving no speech, yet still seeking peace, the Second silently vows. Within his young Heart, a solemn promise, to give of his Ability and life’s quality raise. Amidst shouts of joy, despite all their woe, The first grabs his things and prepares to go. He mounts his steed and rides off towards the foe. Happily he trots, covered in sun rays. Already on his way, the second sees Some traveler on the road. The man had Been beaten and robbed. The warrior gives The stranger his horse, and tells him to ride Back to town. This champion walks on, Now nearing his goal. Hearing the dragon’s Cry, he stops as the lair catches his gaze. He enters the cave, his sword set to strike. Sneaking up on the beast, while it’s having a Feast, glimmering steel goes to remove an Unwanted head. Suddenly head turns and Torches the man, who has seen his last days. The first has now reached the cave dark and damp. He dismounts his horse and readies the camp. Exhausted he sleeps, his battle nearing, Yet happily dreams, no dragon fearing. He stirs in the night, waken by moonlight, And searches the cave ‘til beast is in sight. While it is sleeping, he takes out his sword, With a stroke to its heart, fulfills his word. Which of the two then is the true hero? The second who lived humbly, died quickly, Or the first who is clearly strong and grand? Which of the two should the hero be like?" |
