To me love is a complicated set of animal behaviors that have several explanations and purposes.
Do you think that these are learned behaviors?

Well considering animals do not have language, most human behavior relies on memetic evolution, not biological. See your own thread in the science forum.

they too rely on a “memetic” system

Well rez ...I was asking for an opinion of the author. NOTICE THE QUOTE BRACKETS...but I disagree with your (rez) one liner response, read on dear fellow...

Animals do communicate, using body language and other factors to transfer information, and learn, so it could be said they too rely on a “memetic” system.
Therefore this behavior (love) could be biological, and/or related to memetics.

Memes are a primary unit of cultural evolution, in humans ,however there is a possibility that memetics constitutes a second form of evolution, distinct from and intertwiened with biological evolution.

I am not a fan of the book titled the selfish gene, but the author does bring a few good ideas to the front.

And ... oh yeah! ...(the following is written tongue in cheekI) EYE do not need to check out my theads, I know Im wearing jeans and a t shirt, memory is memes by any other name or thang...becides aint U learned about that cross topic evoultion stuff yet?)

I think it's more than playing house, or a hormone rush, but it works best in the long run if the two of you have become close friends...I never have been a believer in 'love', although I have been married for 37 years and have never lost sexual interest in my wife.
samsara you have been married for 37 years and dont believe in love.... what has kept you two together???
i have been married for 6 years now ans sometimes i believe my husband does not know what love is.
we have been through alot together and if i woke up without him everyday i would fill empty not a loss of love. Im starting to think maybe its just being comfortable with one another
does it sound like that or do i love him??

Love is a word with no real definition. A peacock grows big bright feathers to attract a mate. We agree that big and bright are both used in nature to pass on genes, but no other animal has language in which the word love is used to create an idenity - something not found in nature. Hence why "Love" is not biological.

P.S. Well since memetic evolution only has a little to do with "The Philosophy of Love." I tried to stay on topic, while also linking information that is revelant to another thread (your thread). I am going to have to say you are defensive, since you took "Well considering animals do not have language, most human behavior relies on memetic evolution, not biological. See your own thread in the science forum." as an insult to your intelligence. I guess you're one of those people who likes finding information out soley by yourself, I will take this type of personality into account when you debate in future threads. Sorry for the miscommunication.
