So I ask once more. Is there a difference, in the eyes of the goverment, between a homosexual couple and two straight women living in an apartment? Where is the social justification to either of those partnerships that justify granting them the same benefits as a heterosexual married couple? |
In states that grant rights to same sex couples I am not aware that the laws are any different in terms of acknowledging a relationship then they are for a hetero couple. Certainly one could have a man and a woman sharing an apartment, even sleeping together with sexual relationships and then one could have a hetero couple living in that same apartment. All the government cares about is what the couple claims regarding their relationship.
Which is why I don’t think the government should care if a homo couple wish to get married. Just go ahead and recognize their marriage and good luck to them.
