I have mentioned before, several times in different threads, Jared Diamonds book "Guns, Germs and Steel". This book, and its author are finally putting together a little PBS special putting the essence of the book on PBS.

In my local area, NW Ohio, it will be airing on both channel 30 WGTE and channel 57WBGU at 10pm EST Monday July 11th.

I would strongly recommend this to anyone with intrest in theories of human origins, their adoption and use of technology, their advancement of societies, and where it leaves us today, check this show out, or better yet, READ THE BOOK. You won't be sorry....

I am going to catch it, Osborn. But then I like documentary TV. Volconvo has not appreciated my attempts to discuss such fare in the past, but maybe things are changing...

Thank you to both of you. I checked out the link and will make point of turning on my pbs channel in time for the show.

In politics, under economic disaster, I am using Youngquist book "GeoDestinies". It is a geologiest view point of the same thing. Especially troubling right now, is most oil countries have only one resource, oil. Those stupid awful people causing us so much trouble now, are not infurior human beings, but never had the advantages or mineral rich countires. Then add religious differences on top of the geological differences, and well, you get bombing of cities. I hope knowledge changes our attitude about "those" people and our sense of responsibility.

Great catch Osborn. That was one of the more interesting books I have read on that topic. I will be sure to see what they think they can squeeze into a one hour broadcast.
