I am reminded of the saying, "God works in strange ways". I firmly believe our salvation can come only through reason, and that does not mean studying the bible and staying in the past, which assumed kings and slavery. Clearly the bible begins with Sumerian mythology as translated by a tribe once called Hebrew. This tribe as others, claimed they were special to a war God, who gave them special privileges not shared equally by the rest of humanity. This belief system, can not result in an integrated modern society. It is democracy, socialism and communism, not religion that results in integrated modern society. Why? Because the secular social order is inclusive and religion is exclusive. Religion appeals to our natural tribal nature, demonstrated by the break up of Christianity into several small church groups, that can give people a sense of belonging. When the group gets too large, our sense of belonging is less strong, until "we" attacked by an easily understood "other". What our the belief systems and the emotions the hold us together and pits us against each other? |

Maybe you could say whatever it is using smaller words and plain talk so that my little brain can grasp whatever point you're trying to make. The Forum Rules Radical Atheist Heathen Queer Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.
