Starboy, to deny that you use logic in your arguments is the pinnacle of stupidity. The whole concept of debate is based on logic. Your argument for religion being dishonest is a logical argument.

merlin writes...This is a very good question, in fact it is this question is THE basis of everything that is.

Another reason it is a good question will be coming up presently in AI (artificial intelligence) Lets say that a brilliant scientist creates an AI then dies leaving no notes or data. His "creation" tells us that it is "self aware" . It is as intelligent as a man but how can we prove it is self aware and not just running a program that mimics self awareness?

I think I must have told Merlin at least twenty or thirty times that to me god is as relevant as Zeus. I would no more ask for a “proof” of god than I would ask for a “proof” of Zeus. That to me not only are both god and Zeus irrelevant but all the other gods that people have claimed over human history to have existed. If the time ever came where some god became relevant, no one would need any dang “proof”.

The funny dang thing is that Merlin would not ask for a “proof” of Zeus either yet somehow thinks that “proofs” of god are necessary. Go figure.

Merlin writes...I accept most religious deities on faith. You seem to understand only the temporal universe, but if it works for you then I wish you well. In my opinion the temporal universe is only a fraction of the reality iceberg.

If you really want to understand religious thought and are of a suspicious nature it would behoove you to learn meditation. I find problems become more black and white without side issues when completing them in a meditative state.

All gods are “real” to me in a paradoxical way. God isn’t a man, or a construct of man; god is a place a, domain, an intelligent presence in that domain. Time is only a construct of god to provide order in a chaotic universe, and a method of measuring the breakdown of ordinary finite matter.

We were to be as caretakers of this universe (we all have one that is indistinguishable from the others and is casually connected and merged with the others)

God requires a frame of mind to tune in to its frequency, to use a bad choice of words.

Some people still are using a string and two cans, to comm with god, and wondering why they too cannot get gods FM digital stereo and hear a clear "THIS is God speaking... can you hear me mow?"
