| The curious Gwen Location: In a cage surrounded by ignorance Posts: 36 | The Religious Debate about Homosexuals In the Church. As a Christian, I understand what the Bible says about homosexuals. It clearly states that Christians should not indulge themselves in anything that can be considered homosexual. And yet it also states to love the sinner and hate the sinner. So where, as Christians, do we draw the line? The issue of excepting homosexuals into the church, and even allowing them to become leaders, is controversial. What I think is homosexuals, and any sinner (because we are all sinners) should be accepted into the church. Allowing homosexuals into a leadership position should not be allowed because a leader needs to show that they are following Christ's word. Being homosexual is going against His word. I am not against homosexuals and do not wish to descriminate against them. I just think that any violator (ie: adulterer, having premerital sex, or anything like that) should not be allowed into a leadership role. The people who should be allowed into those roles, should be people who follow the Bible's teaching to the best of their ability. If we did not draw the line here, where would we draw it? What would be considered right or wrong then? |

Also Harpist, blacks were excluded from leadership positions as well. Eventually society realized that discriminating based on genetics is the farthest thing from being Christian. Turn the other cheek, mind your own business, and understand that the bible was written by man. |

| Sedimentary Rock Posts: 1 | I agree with Harpist that Christians should be open to any and all sinners no matter what the sin. Besides, Jesus forgives all... and not giving the sinner a chance to be forgiven would be the greatest sin of all. To those who claim that the Bible was only "written by man" - mind yourself that despite your beliefs others take religion very seriously, and I myself find it very offensive for someone to be so unsensative to someone's beliefs. If this is you then you have no right responding to a message with religious context in this manner. |
