Today i realised how blind everyone and everything has become. They all act upon motives which will never help them, and are irrelevant to anything in their lives. You cannot hold onto your new clothes for happiness, or your hair, or your friends, or even yourself. The only thing you can be is true. People have meaningless lives around me, the lives which people lead are indeed predominantly consumer driven, people are lead astray from what matters by the media and superficial things. People 'give themselves a break' with a 'bar of chocolate' or whatever food or object they find temporary happiness in. It is like watching people top themselves up. For a short while they feel full, but its only on the surface, they aren't filling any void they are merely covering it up. So they keep buying, or eating, or bitching, or smoking.
Neither can we truly 'live' in this world or life if we try and get from it things or answers which can only be obtained by beings which transcend our conscious and physical state.
The realisation that living to our true potential and a natural potential would better fulfill us.

Blessed are those who are blind but still see 'The Truth'...
...it is ok not to be perfect...and it is ok to try and achieve perfection...and it is ok to not try to achieve perfection....and it is ok to do something else...and it is ok to just be ok......OK!!

It is called materialism, and it destroys value systems.

Have a dog five years, then it is inconvenient to take care of ? dump it by the road.

Kids cramping your life style? dump them on Granny.

Can't pay your bills and have the plasma screen tv too? Just don't pay them and don't answer the phone when they call.

Ownership of belongings, Designer clothes, bells and whitles, etc. are what we judge others by these days, not integrety or honesty.

So why do you care then, One Diety? Alienating yourself is on the path of becoming insane.

If your assertion is that we are all blnid, and I assume that you are excluding yourself from that 'all', perhaps you would care to enlighten us to just what we are not seeing?

I am in full agreement.

Question though- You did title the thread, "People Now," so do you believe this is new? Are there a "People then?"

(I believe there are. I am wondering what you think)

People are perfect in what they are, one deity... and they can't help but be true in their actions. They are doing what they want. When they want to feel truly satisfied in life they will find it. The only thing you can do for them is to show them what it means to live without fear and in complete honesty and at home in existence... if you are lucky enough to have stumbled on that truth already...

No it's called consumerism, materialism is the beleif that only material(as in physical things exist)

Don't confuse them, because although I'm the latter I'm certianly NOT the former.

If you were to take that a step further then you could apply it to criminals and people in power who exploit others. They too are just trying to live life to its fullest. It's sometimes difficult to recognize the value in their lives, but it's just as important as helping your fellow man.

I'd like to take issue with saying people *now*. People always look back on the "good old days." Are you *kidding* me? Those days were as bad as these days, and in many ways worse.

Yeah DayBaye, the good old days is a euphemism for lax civil rights and women cooking in the kitchen while mopping the floor. Sex still had the claps and syphillis. The wars were more patriotic and less questionable.

I remember when I played Ultima Online, it was the player killers who made the game truly challenging and interesting... more than the programmed monsters in the game.

If there were no criminals or exploiters, who would show us what NOT do to? Crisis compels growth. Just as a person's body would atrophy without gravity to fight against, so we need conflict in order to grow emotionally and mentally as individuals. Some people try to cheat though > The best way to grow is to recognize the crisis before it arrives (yay reason!) and prepare for it, if you can. But... who usually sees a problem before it arrives?

wow. You are basing your approval of criminal behavior on the stimulation it brings an RPG character.

Way to be.

With or without morality, a life is a life. Rich, poor, good, or evil, we come and go all the same. I tend to think that a big majority of conflict we face is self percieved.
