Would Jesus Be Democrat Or Republican?

An article I read recently said that Jesus would probably be neither, but he would have voted Republican. Interesting isn't it? Perhaps that's the reason why Americans voted for George W. Bush. Read the article and see if you agree:

Jesus would vote for neither as he is the ultimate Communist...

Freedom is Slavery

That is very funny. A person that rejects the laws of man is an anarchist.

There are a couple of books that you might like to read that go into gory detail as to what is attributed to be what Jesus said. When you pull all of it out of the bible it is not more than a few pages. [The Jesus Seminar] Anyway, when you read that stuff, both in and out of context, Jesus comes across as a somewhat crazy guru that really preached all sorts of things that would not be considered standard conservative rhetoric. To me it looks like something a communist or anarchist would say. Most of what is called Christian doctrine came from Paul/Saul, not Jesus. Jesus said it himself. He was here for the Jews. As far as Jesus was concerned the gentiles were no better than dogs.

Jesus would go with the Green Party. I bet my nonexistant fortune on it.

Sin is salvation. Without "sin" there wouldn't be a concept for "purity" and without a concept of "purity" one wouldn't be able to enter "heaven."

Well, which party believes in God? I don't think the Republicans are the "moral relativists"
Pretty easy question to answer, snarky comments aside.

Oh, it's really too bad, isn't it?

I'll read it later but the Christian holy beings would be republican in the old testament and democrats in the new testament

Neither.

Too many Democrats are trying to pretend he never existed.

Too many Republicans are trying to bring back the Levitical laws (and abuse thereof) he intended to overturn.

Furthermore, all this talk of Jesus being a communist or an anarchist. Puh-lease. I'm tired of my Messiah being rebranded as some sort of sandal-wearing hippy.

If you want to see where Jesus is best shown to be a communist read Acts 4:32-35

"And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul; neither said that any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but that they had all things in common. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus; and great grace was upon them all. Neitherwas there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, and laid them down at the apostles feet: and distribution was made untio every man according as he had need"

The teachings of Jesus are one long socialist tract. As has been said elsewhere, it's all the crap attatched on on by the Church when compiling the bible that isn't. And do you think they added those books because they felt it was in the spirit of Jesus teachings or because they were trying to side with Rome?

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

Yawn. As usual trying to ascribe the acts of the Church (men) to Jesus.

Been there, done that. I'll take your Acts 4: 32-35 and give you one Matthew 7:6

Quote:
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
Which I take to mean: Don't run yourself ragged giving everything you have to ingrates because they'll never be satisfied and once they've bled you dry they'll tear you apart.

Heavens do I have a great deal of experience with that.

Not to mention Luke 10:7
Quote:
And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
But if we're allowed to quote non-Gospels, then OK, I can dig that.

1Cor 3:8
Quote:
Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
I've no inherent problems with generosity. But I don't see how Jesus would be a proponent of charity made at gunpoint (which is what all forms of socialism ultimately are, in practise).

After all, 2Cor 9:7 says:
Quote:
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
Then there's 2Thes 3:10-12
Quote:
Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
So if people could stop talking about Jesus as if he was Che freaking Guevara just because he asked people to be generous occasionally, that'd be appreciated. The importance of self-reliance and hard work was stressed just as much in the Bible, but these days people seem to be selectively forgetting that.

We don't know that he didn't. He just didn't think to out them so James Dobson could bitch about them the same way he is pissing about Spongebob.

Besides, given that Jesus was from Nazareth, he isn't eligible to vote in American elections anyway and couldn't be a Democrat or a Republican. Politically, Jesus is undefinable by our standards. He has too many positive qualities (of which any political party has only a few) to be lumped in with any of them. None of our indicators apply.
