Eating Dogs & Cats

OK, here's my question: if we can shoot Bambi's mother, roast the Babe, fry the Lambchop, eat Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny, why can't we do the same to Snoopy and Garfield? Is it a religion thing or what?

Many Asians eat dog and cat all the time. Many africans eat all kinds of insects. Dogs eat shit. Just about every organic substance on the earth with any exothermal energy in it is eaten by some creature or another.

Mmm. Read 'A Cook's Tour' by Anthony Boudain. Some amazing meals in there.

I watch Bourdain's show on Discovery Channel. It's very interesting.

Hey, you mean eating dogs and cats is legal in the US? I've never seen it done. Not even in the China Towns.

You kidding? That would be bad for business. There are already enough horror stories going around without them actually listing such critters on the menu.

It's not horror if you're Chinese, Korean or Japanese.

That is not what I am talking about. There are several horror stories of people supposedly dying after eating a meal in a Chinese restaurant that contained certain parts of a cat’s anatomy that could be toxic. I have known a few people in the medical field that will not go near a Chinese restaurant because of this story. I have no idea if it is a legend or has some basis in reality but there are horror stories out there regarding cats being served in Chinese restaurants and it is not the sort of publicity that any restaurant would want to have. So I doubt you will ever see cat or dog on the menu. Not until the population's notion of what is good food changes in regard to cat or dog.

These are just vicious rumors. Chinese food's the best.

Don't get me wrong. I love Chinese food. Some of my most memorable meals have been Chinese. All I am saying is that you are not likely to find dog or cat on the menu of Chinese restaurants in many countries around the world.

That's 'cos it's illegal and the locals won't order it.

I will have to agree on chinese food being the best. Personally, as long as I don't know what's in it - who cares!

All I can say about eating cats is, here kitty, kitty.

Not your own pet. Just a dog or cat you haven't met before. In fact you don't even see it being killed. It's served cooked at your table. Hey, Farmer Brown loves Babe, but he has bacon and ham for breakfast.
