Criticism: Fair and Impartial: Atheism and Theism

Theists have a dogma that lends itself to criticism, also if they have behavior that is in opposition to that dogma that too is open to criticism.

Atheists do not have a dogma...but because they make the claim of being ' more rational ' than theists, that opens any statements they make, or behavior, that opposes reason and rationality, to criticism.

Criticism should be both fair and impartial...and put out in equal measure, given all things being equal.

    Simple question...

Should atheists ( generally - as a group ) expect the same disdain and criticism that they dish out to theists ( generally - as a group ) when another atheist says or does something that is unreasonable or irrational?

Anyone, whether atheist, theist or afairyist, should expect to be dissected, scrutinised, ridiculed, satirised and/or metaphorically slapped for coming up with ridiculous jive.

This treatment is especially more deserving for those who take themselves way too seriously.

What utter nonsense. You, Dio, just made an irrational and unreasonable claim. Namely, you generalized millions of people in an attempt to make your argument more airtight. Atheism is the rejection of all gods based on the evidence at hand. It does not make one 'more rational' -- it just goes a long way.

I take issue with your belief that atheists deserve special criticism. There exist spiritual atheists. There exist atheist philosophers. There exist rational atheists. We are a herd of cats. Your desperate attacks against us just shows you're in denial about your own philosophical viewpoint. You're even worse than those Republican politicians who spew out vile homophobic rhetoric in between their latest secret cock-gobble in the men's room.

A man said to the universe:
    "Sir, I exist!"
    "However," replied the universe,
"The fact has not created in me
    A sense of obligation."

The irony is often stark when it comes to Diogenes's trademark holier-than-thou - and rather obsessive - bitching and moaning about atheists.

That's enough - this thread is not about Diogenes. If you can't debate the topic as presented in the OP without resorting to personal remarks then don't post.

I see nothing unreasonable or irrational in the statements I made. In fact I find your response to be unreasonable and irrational.
The ' generalization ' was a point alluding to the fact that theists are generalized...I'm surprised you missed that, as I made it quite clear in using brackets. So I was giving them both the same fair treatment.
However, I do agree that it doesn't make one ' more rational '...even though your ' tack on ' alludes to it being being more rational...and therefore contradictory.

I take issue with your belief that atheists deserve special criticism. There exist spiritual atheists. There exist atheist philosophers. There exist rational atheists. We are a herd of cats. I never said they deserve ' special ' criticism...in fact I specifically said they deserve ' equal ' criticism with ' equal ' measure when warranted. Trying to change what I said by lying doesn't make you seem honest.
Again the generalities? I don't see you or anyone else distinguishing between one theist and another? And see above remark concerning generalities.
Homophobic rhetoric? Really! As someone who has , on multiple occasions here, and in real life, defended gays and their rights...and has actually been involved in civil rights , and not just given it lip-service ...if I cared about your opinion I'd be offended. Good thing I don't.

It only ' appears ' to be " holier-than-thou - and rather obsessive - bitching and moaning about atheists " because I am the only person on this board that tries to be fair to both sides.
Theists are constantly attacked...constantly mocked...and berated. They are unable to defend their beliefs and are used as cannon fodder by everyone.
I merely try my best to give atheists a bit of their own medicine...even things out...put the shoe on the other foot.

    And for the most part...

I find athiests very incapable of taking criticism...in fact I'd even go so far as to say that they couldn't take half the crap they put on theists on this board.
Everytime you criticize an atheist they start whining about it being unfair...too critical...too judgmental...where's my mommy...you hurt my feelings...you're being too harsh...you're not being very nice...why can't we all just get along.

Your defensive/offensive stand is a testament to that fact...you can't defend yourself, so you must attack the person.

    I should clarify this...

by ' only ' I am specifically referring to the fact of showing each side the same disdain. It does not imply that ' some ' others do not try to be impartial, or do not reveal the absurdities in comments made by the their camp.

You think way too highly of your own critique by expecting atheists to somehow concede to your argument without a rebuttal. And if they rebut, then of course that must mean that these big bad mean atheists can't handle criticism. Logic fail.

You need to provide evidence to support your gross generalisations as shown in the following quote:

Everytime you criticize an atheist they start whining about it being unfair...too critical...too judgmental...where's my mommy...you hurt my feelings...you're being too harsh...you're not being very nice...why can't we all just get along.
Let's hope you come through this time and not establish another trademark for yourself by rambling on without a shred of evidence as you've done in countless other threads relating to the grief that atheists apparently give you.

I'm considering posting up a discussion on those who hold the view: "I Don't Believe In Gods But I'm Not An Atheist." Do you belong to this group?

The only ' fail ' is in your reply.

Let's hope you come through this time and not establish another trademark for yourself by rambling on without a shred of evidence as you've done in countless other threads relating to the grief that atheists apparently give you.
Atheists don't give me grief at all...another blind assumption on your part.

I'm considering posting up a discussion on those who hold the view: "I Don't Believe In Gods But I'm Not An Atheist." Do you belong to this group?
    Be my guest.

And I see that in two posts you've still refused to answer the question , preferring to focus on me...I hope you're not infatuated with me...I'm taken.

Well that was a very constructive response. Would you like to try again? (Preferably by taking some time to think before your fingers touch the keyboard.)
