Who says that they do? Scientist are not telling the Pope about heaven and hell. It would be nice if the Pope would stop telling science about reality. The problem that scientists have is that what they know is so darn useful. So useful that most people are more than willing to temporarily forget about their supernatural mumbo jumbo to take advantage of that knowledge. It does chap the asses of the devout supernaturalist. Frankly I could give a damn if you do not understand its metaphors of field, electron, discontinuity, molecule, quantum state and so on. Say anything you like about the old, tired and worn out metaphors like soul, angels demons and god, there is a new way of viewing reality in town. And everybody wants the results of such thinking even if they don't care for its metaphors and their implications.
